Olore looked at Strays as the young one-the stallion reminded himself not to think 'foal', for Elestirne had told him many times that the young of elves and men were not called foals-spoke;saying that he thought they should begin to search for Elestirne. Olore nickered and nodded excitedly in agreement;happy that things at last seemed to be going somewhere.
On pure impulse, the silver stallion bent his noble head and gently nuzzled the youngling. Exactly right young one. We must find my lady. Now enough talk and let us go! He snorted and pawed at the ground, then nudged Storm and gestured again towards the mountains;hoping that the knight and the others would reach the same conclusion as Strays and get the stallion's point.

"Woah, easy there Olore. Well my own personal opion is to follow Olore and see where he's taking us. Then we run in there and take back the queen."
Storm strokes the neck of the irritated stallion.
"But we all know that is the wrong way to do it. We need a plan but first i think we should just follow Olore and see where he takes us."

Olore snorted in relief. Finally! Now things are getting somewhere. All that remains now is to get Zaron and Nichtmar to understand also, then to get all to follow me as Storm has suggested... The silver stallion champed his teeth in frustration, stamping a hoof. He started to sidle away from Storm with a toss of his head and flattening of ears, but curbed his impatience with effort and stood still;allowing the knight to stroke his neck. Very briefly, the stallion even bent his neck to nuzzle Storm as he had done with Strays.
It was none of their fault,he reflected, that they could not understand him and since they were unable to understand when he spoke they were left to puzzle out as best as they could what his behaviour and actions meant. Given that,it should be considered as fortunate that he had gotten through to Storm and Strays-and the stranger called Tatsumura-so relatively quickly. But it was all so frustrating! He was so close to being able to set out in searching for and recovering his lady and he chafed at every second of delay-especially considering he still had not heard from Elestirne.
With a second snort and a toss of his head the silver stallion wheeled smartly and cantered away from the group to stop at the gate;wheeling a second time to face them once more. With a whinney Olore reared and tossed his head a second time-indicating the gate behind him and the world beyond. He pawed at the ground as he landed and stood swishing his long tail impatiently;hoping that his actions were obvious enough that the mortals would get the message. Enough delay. Time slips away from us and I wish to be on the way..
One foreleg lashed out to strike at the ground in emphasis of this as the silver stallion danced uneasily;watching the others and waiting. His intelligent eyes were intent and piercing as he looked at them;his gaze expectant.

The strange figure looks back as the horse stops to jump around, the words, Move, Go, appear in his head. He looks up as he here's his eagle's screech, as it returns to him and lands on his arm. It makes a series of small sounds before Masamune turns back to the group.
"The horse is right, whatever it is looking for is up that way. Ayame says that there is a strange mist that blocks her view. It spins in a large circle."
The figure drops his arm, the eagle climbing up to his shoulder.
"Since it seems I am stuck here...wherever here is, I would be honored if I can join you. Though, as the Onikage there has made clear with his movements, I don't think we have time to really discuss the matter."
The figure turned, the wolf finally moving and the eagle looking at the rest of the group as the figure walked out of the gates.

Elestirne continued to stand at the opening and look out over Mittelmarch after speaking, though she wondered whether the sorceror had heard. Her ball of light shimmered out of existence as she continued to stand looking out of the opening;hoping for some response from Olore in answer to her call. When there was none she turned back into the room. With a feeling of mixed disappointment and worry she walked across the chamber to the table and selected a raspberry from the bowl with slender fingers;studying the fruit warily for a moment before eating it. It was not poisoned but she had not expected it to be-for she knew that Telemacchus could have killed her already if that had been his intention and that she factored somehow in his plans and he could not or did not want to.
She selected another raspberry from the bowl and ate it slowly as she thought. She did not want to stay here and desired to rejoin Zaron and the others so that she could help them in the battle she knew was to come, but she did not trust Telemacchus. Although he had said that she was free to go when she liked she was suspicious. She knew that they were high in the mountains and she was sure that, even if she won her way free of the fortress somehow and escaped into the surrounding foothills it might take her a day or more on foot to find her way back to Mittelmarch, especially if she was wounded after fighting free-time Telemacchus could easily use to attack. Also,Olore would be able to find her better and faster than she could him and the others...
Given that-though she thought she could fight her way through the fortress, albeit with effort-it would be wiser to stay where she was and hope Olore was able to contact her,and that he was able to get the others to understand quickly what had happened. For now though, there was nothing she could do but wait, and see perhaps, what she could learn from Telemacchus. Slightly reluctantly,Elestirne looked to Telemacchus and spoke.
Her keen grey eyes lanced into the sorceror and her voice was clear and firm. "I wonder Telemacchus how you enter into all this and why you ally with Grish'nak and desire to attack Mittelmarch. What ill have they done you,and what gain would you recieve should Mittelmarch fall? I also wonder where I fit in in your plans. You spoke of a partnership between us our first meeting,a joint rulership over Mittelmarch, and of taking me as a pupil should I accept your offer. Tell me what is your interest in I and Olore? Why-other than a desire to keep me out of the fighting and battle to come-did you send Raze to waylay my escort and I on our way to the Black Door, then have him pursue, poison and bring me to you?"

His hands clasped behind his back, cloak dancing with the wind. His eyes turn from Mittelmarch to the face of Elestirne.
“Do not play naïve with me. You know what power I offer you. I only partner now with Grish’nak so that taking over the Land Between will be less troublesome. There will come a time when the thrown of power must change and it will be I who sits upon it. I’m asking you to be my queen. With your power intertwined with mine, there’ll be no stopping us. We would control the Land.”

Nichtmar at this moment: A grayish skinned ogre, he stands near the height of most tall men, some would say he’s short for his race, but it doesn’t seem to subtract from his fearlessness on the battle field. He would sacrifice himself for Mittelmarch and his unit the Dragoons. He has traveled to many lands in hopes to train with the best, he is never satisfied with his abilities, he always feels their’s room for improvement. He still carries the red roman shield that he received from his first battle. It’s burned black from a dragon’s breath and painted upon it is the white cross of the dragoons. He carries a long sword and his armor is made of black leather scraps. Under his armor he wears a long black tabard. The black helm, riveted with silver plates, he bought at a local armory, hides his gentle face. His voice contrasts his young features, it commands the Mittelmarch Guard.
Nichtmar, in his armor, rides up to Storm and Masamune on his shire horse.
“Gentlemen, Zaron has instructed me to take you two, Olore and maybe a couple of volunteers to find Lady Elestirne. Do you know where to start?”

The figure stops in midstride, turning his head to the robust figure that has just riden up. His violet eyes seem to pierce into the soul as he looks at the newcomer on his horse. His voice carries gently, but with a strange firmness.
"Olore is it?" Nodding at the horse, "Has made it clear that our search should start in the mountains. I believe we should follow his instincts. He whould know better how to find her then we would."
The figure turns and continues to walk towards the trees.

Olore snorted and pawed at the ground;prancing in place a little as restlessness assailed him. He nodded to Nichtmar a little as the ogre rode up; a little relieved at his words. Good. If not both, then at least one will accompany me. I would have preferred both Zaron and Nichtmar but this is no time for preference and what help is available must be accepted. As to Storm and the other...the knight is young and inexperienced with this world but he has a good heart and seems eager to help. The one called Tatsumura I know nothing of but he seems to have a good heart and he did help my lady and I once. He seems to have strange magic as well, and can understand me to a point...
He pawed at the ground again. As for others...I think that would be wise. Wherever my lady is being held in the mountains,we are likely to meet resistance in attempting to recover her. And if she is,as I believe, with Telemacchus, then meeting resistance becomes certainty. But how many others should go? And whom? Some more warriors at least. His eyes fell on Strays. And the youngling. He seems to be able to take care of himself and oft the powerful or ambitious overlook the small and unassuming. He may be able to find and get to Elestirne before the rest of us... The magnificent stallion nodded his fine head slightly to himself even as he thought, then fixed his intelligent, expressive eyes on Tatsumura;adressing him.
Strange windwalker...tell Nichtmar I feel we should have some warriors with us...and the young one. He might be needed. Turning, Olore walked gracefully, deliberately out of the gate;stopping at the edge of the trees. And to waste no time, for time is too precious to waste. And all that come with should be mounted The silver stallion swished his tail and waited. He knew that Tatsumura would not have understood everything, but he hoped that his desire for more warriors, and for Strays, had been understood at least.

The figure paused once again as images and words filled his head. An image of the robust figure, and the word "Nichtmar sounded in his head. An image of the local warriors and the young one appeared in his head, accompanied by the words "bring warriors...and him." The final words seemed to become very clear rather suddenly, "And to waste no time, for time is too precious to waste. And all that come with should be......"the rest fading away. He turned to the robust figure.
"Nichtmar? Olore says that we need more warriors..and that one," pointing over to Strays. "We also have no time to waste." He seemed to pause for a moment, thinking over what he had just heard in his mind. Time...time....we have no time...we must be quick...swift... His eyes opened widely as if he realized what had been missed. "You should all be mounted as well...it will speed us up quite a bit.
The figure closed his eyes, seeing if he could make the connection to the strange horse more clear by speaking back.
Horse spirit...Olore...I hope, that I have gotten what you need said across....you are right, we must all get going.
The figure turned, looking up at the mountains that stood over the hills. He looked to Ayame, who seemed to nod without words being said. She lept from his shoulder, flying of towards the mountains again. Sezaru looked up at his flying friend, and howled.

Olore flattened his ears a little to dull the intensity of the wolf's howl at such close range, then pricked them again as it died away. He blinked in surprise abruptly,as he felt something from Tatsumura. It was not nearly so strong nor clear as he felt from Elestirne but it was unmistakeable and every word was clear, albeit a little faint,as if Tatsumura spoke from a distance. The silver stallion snorted and pawed the ground;keeping his dark, expresive eyes intently on Tatsumura. The unexpected discovery that the man could communicate mind to mind with him pleased and relieved him.
We must be swift yes,but cautious, he sent. I do not want to leave my lady in danger longer than necesary but it will avail to naught if we charge in rashly and get taken or injured ourselves in the attempt. We must go as a small group,as silently and swiftly as possible, and all that go should be proven warriors-with the exception of the youngling. Also,we will need at least one who knows the lands well and can get us to the mountains quickly. The stallion paused. Until my lady contacts me I cannot pinpoint exactly where she is,or how to reach her but I know she is in the mountains. Those that come with must be able to travel light and swift, for I will not waste a second. My only concern is to reach and rescue my lady and I shall do it alone if I must. I failed her once, when she was taken, and will not do so again. Olore fell silent now, turned away and walked further into the trees for a short distance, then stopped and looked back. The bells on his bridle jingled softly as he tossed his head. I will wait here whilst they ready but they should not take too long.

Elestirne looked at Telemacchus cooly;silver-grey eyes flickering in her otherwise impassive fase. She listened to him speak without comment, then spoke herself. "So it is all ultimately for your gain then. You ally with Grish'nak only because he will aid, contribute to and speed up your conquest, bring you closer to your final goal. And it is the same for the orcs that serve you perhaps? You tolerate them because they play a part in furthering thine conquest and because you need them. But what of Raze? Is he commanded by you or is he master of his own will and acts independently?"
She paused a moment, eyes on him as she considered her next words. "What if you do not take Mittelmarch Telemacchus? How if your attacks fail and Mittelmarch's defenders repel and defeat what you throw at them? Or are you confident that your superior numbers and power of magic will triumph?
"Let us speak of caution then. You may have hordes at your command or in your allegiance but, though they may serve you they do not love you and fight only out of fear and greed for whatever it is that you have promised them. Mittelmarch's defenders however, will fight of their own will and of love for their home and families. Their determination may make up for their lack of numbers. In either case,it will likely prove a bitter battle, and long one."
Again she paused, this time lapsing ino silence for a time as she thought. I will have to be careful with him,and not let my gaurd down. There is a great age to him,and a great power as well. Once he was of elvenkind but that was long ago and he is so no more. Pride and ambition were his downfall then perhaps and may prove to be so again-though he would have it that they are a means to gain power and glory. I wonder what it was that caused him to turn against his kind and become what he is now? Whatever it was,or is, he is terrible and dangerous-fey even-and it would be perilous to underestimate him.
As to what he says to making me queen...Aegnor promised/offered me much the same when we faced off...though I do not think Telemacchus offers for the same reasons...I wish that I could contact Olore...his guidance would be useful now.. Elestirne spoke again.
"You offer me great power Telemacchus;queenship and rulership over a land, but this I enjoy already in my own land. How,perchance would I rule two realms at once? You offer me also alliance and joint rulership with you. You gain power and dominance over Mittelmarch and its lands, but what is it that I would gain? Your offer is generous Telemacchus but I must consider carefully if it is worth it:what I might gain, what I might lose, what exactly you offer, what could or might happen should I decline, what I might become if I accept...it is not a decision to be made lightly." Her clear grey eyes lanced into the sorceror a moment before she turned to look out over the land and her words drifted back softly. "For power is a dangerous thing, either to give or to recieve, and it has the potental either for great good or great evil, depending upon the use it is put to and the one who directs it. I wonder Telemacchus:what did you give up for your power,to become what you are now,and was it worth it?"

“I wouldn’t normally accept the request of a boy tagging along, but if Olore believes his path belongs with us, he would know more than I.”
Nichtmar lightly jabs his heals into the side of Titus, his shire horse, and walks towards the boy.
“Boy, would you like to ride with us?”
Nichtmar offers a hand up to ride behind him?

“Queen of another land you say…interesting. .My hands reach well beyond this realm, your majesty.”
Telemachus moves in closer as to be telling a secret.
“There is a place called Eryndor. I’ve had the slightest taste of power that I can draw from this realm and I am devising a way to open a permanent portal so that I may transfer unlimited power. After Grish’nak’s forces wipe out all our enemies, I will use this power to take the thrown, hopefully without having to kill him. He is a great asset.”
He turns back towards the balcony.
“Make no mistake. I do not want the innocents dead.”
His arms rise with his staff in his right hand.
“Their armies will be broken and those who swear allegiance will be given forgiveness.”
Turning back to Elestirne.
“What I offer you, your majesty, is new power. Power you can use to stop your enemies in your own land. Ahh here…”
Telemachus opens a wardrobe and from the back he pulls a wooden staff. He hands it to her.
“This will be your tool, perhaps in time you will fashion another one, but for now it will do.”

Elestirne narrowed her eyes; declining to take the offered staff. "I have not yet accepted thine offer Telemacchus," she pointed out. "I said I must consider it. Why do you attempt to tempt me? Why,Telmacchus, are you so intent upon trying to win me to your side and why is it my power you feel you need to be unstoppable? Is it because you feel that my power added to yours will assure your victory and dominance?. And why dost thou want me for your queen? Answer me these questions Telemacchus-out of courtesy to a lady if naught else. I deserve to know their answers ere I begin to consider your offer, and answer me also what this place is."
As she waited for his reply, she thought over what he had said. Eyrndor...might Oron have mentioned that name to me perhaps? I do not know... Olore might though...he forgets nothing...
Once again she yearned to be able to talk with the silver stallion. She needed his counsel and she wanted to know what was going on-if he had gotten to Zaron and Nichtmar,if they were on thier way... She wondered once more why she had not been able to reach the stallion the first time...could it have been the poison? Maybe it had weakened her more much more than she had realized, she could still feel it in her blood but it's malicious effect was diminished. Would she be able to reach Olore now? It was worth a try... She turned to the balcony;the cool mountain air clearing her head and sending her hair streaming. She sent her thought out in a call for the stallion;hoping she reached him. Olore...?

Masamune fell to a knee as a sudden rush of images and connecting words bombarded his mind. The sudden excitement of Olore realizing that Masamune could speak back flooded in like a unchecked dam. Masamune had made his attempt to strengthen the connection, and it was now out of his control. Connecting his mind openly with this creature not of Rokugan was now causing him great pain. Then suddenly, a mental backlash swept out of Masamune's mind, images of his life. His mind became an open book for Olore to read.
An image of a man looking much like Masamune, working on a sword, smiling at a child appeared, followed by the scene of his death. A creature that could only be a demon of some sort stood over the man and child holding the sword. This was followed by scenes of the boy training throughout his life, and then confronting the demon years later.
Images of Masamune appeared in with him among gaijin warriors, fighting of orcs and goblins. This was followed by those very men swearing to serve him.
Then, a horde of demons and orcs stood before Masamune and his seven "Blademasters." a portal silhouetted in the background. Images came of watching the deaths of 5 of the warriors, and the eventual destruction of the portal, and then, the ruins of a city. The image of 5 shrines sitting on a hill, overlooking a river, with Masamune knelt before them, great sorrow felt in his heart for the death of this men. This was simply followed by images of the views of a wanderer, drifting from place to place as the wind took him.
Then, the images of the moments before Olore and Elestirne fled from the orcs that chased them and had been cut off by Masamune. The details of the fight became evident. He rushed in, spinning as he did, avoiding the first swings of the orcs. He cut three down in a wave of parries and strikes. One of the orcs managed to pin his weapon down, but was caught by surprise as a shard of ice pierced his chin and exited the top of his head. The figure seemed to disappear into a gust of freezing winds as the axe of an orc would have cleaved him in two. He appeared in the air above them, holding out his hand as freezing winds and snow seemed to appear out of nowhere on the clearest of days. Shards of ice, rained on the remaining orcs, stabbing and slicing them to pieces.
The images suddenly stopped, followed only by a few simple words. Not so much at one time.
Masamune stood back up, dusting off is cloak, turning to the others, sweat on his pale face.
"We should get going now, there is no time to waste."

"I hope that doesn't happen often..."

Olore snorted nervously as Tatsuura suddenly fell, then nickered a little as he realized what had happened. Much apoligies...he sent gently, thoughts warm. You are new to this...I overestimated your abilities... I hope you are not hurt. The stallion paused to give the overwhelmed Tatsumura time to absorb and understand everything. His tone was of contriteness and compassion, but an undercurent of humour underlay it.
After a few moments he continued, and repeated his original message;pausing often to make it easier for the man. We must move...swiftly and silently...cautiously. We cannot...rush in rashly or we...will be taken or injured also. Those warriors...that come with...must be battle-tested and proven...save the youngling. At least one...of those accompanying...must know area well...and..be able to get to mountains quickly. Until my lady contacts me...I will know nothing more...on where she is...other than somewhere in the mountains. Those that come with...must be able to travel light...
Again Olore paused, swishing his silken tail, then spoke again. My only concern, only duty...is to find and rescue my lady. This...I will do alone...if I must. I failed her once...when she was taken...I will not do so again... The mighty stallion hung his head a little;the arched neck dropping slightly. I failed to prevent her capture...failed to protect her...I am shamed... Sorrow flowed from him in a palpable wave.
The great stallion tensed upon sensing Tatsumura lose control and gently broke the connection to avoid seeing uninvited into the man's mind-but not before he caught glimpses of a young boy and his father,a young man with seven companions, sorrow, then wandering...the stallion shook his head with a snort and the images disappeared.
Turning,he took a few more strides in under the trees, then stopped. I will wait here whilst they ready...but they should not take long. Take too long...and I shall start without them... Finished, Olore resumed his forlorn vigil;fine head turned towards the mountains; large, dark eyes deep, intent and sorrowful; nostrils flared to catch the faintest scent; sculpted ears pricked to catch the slightest sound. But for one hoof that pawed lightly, restlessly at the dark earth the stallion was motionless.

"Rider coming to the gates!" comes the call from one of the sentrys on the wooden planking behind the walls. Nichtmar readies himself, trotting to the gate he looks through the archway at the smaller horse, moving at a full gallop, the sun in the west casts a shadow over the rider who is leaning low over the saddle. A broad shield can be seen strapped to his back.
Nichtmar nods to the sentrys and the archers take aim in case of a threat. "HALT!" Shouts the commanding voice of nichtmar, booming and shaking the timbers of the walls a bit. The rider does not slow. Nichtmar cocks his head as his hand grips the handle of his sword tightly. After a moment of tension the younger of the sentries looses his arrow, the arrow sings through the air and pings off the back of the shield on the riding figure. after a moment the shadowed figure falls off the horse limply. "HOLD YOUR FIRE!" A look of terror flashed over the ogres normally stern face as he saw the body of his dwarf friend Baethor move weakly on the ground as the pony ran past and into the gates. Nichtmar swung himself off of his horse, leaving Strays on the enormous mount.
Nichtmar skidded to a halt at his friend. The Dwarfs armor was cracked, several plates of the brigadine broken away, exposing slashed flesh. his shield was bent and cracked, one of the twin axes at his side was broken at the haft. "GET A HEALER OUT HERE!" A crowd gathered at the gate, Nichtmar knelt down to try and lift his stout friend. "Gerroff me fool ogre...Ah'm not dead yet.." THe gravely voice rasped from under the blood matted beard. "What happened friend...we lost you during the fight with the orcs..." "Nay lad, ye almost lost me! theres a difference." The dwarf chuckled and turned his head away to cough a small amount of blood on the ground. "Got surrounded...To many to fight...but i couldnt run...I backed my way inte a corner, and was able to keepem off my back...then the pony came back and ah was able to get away...S'good te be home...friend..." The dwarves eyes rolled back as he passed out from blood loss. Nichtmar hefted the dwarf into his arms and ran him back into the walls to find him a healer and a bed to rest...

Part of the Great Hall had become a ward for those injured from battle. The random attacks from Grish’nak’s forces had left many near death. Now Baethor may lie on his death bed. Nichtmar could not handle this thought, his emotions always getting the better of him. The healer told him there was no guarantee, Baethor had lost much blood. He stood over Baethor as he slept, his thoughts boiled with rage and revenge.
“Pardon me…” Masamune gently stepped towards Nichtmar.
Nichtmar sternly asked, “What?”
“We should go.”
Without a word Nichtmar left to join the others.
“Olore, please lead us to your friend.”
The small party headed out in a steady stride. Nichtmar and Strays rode together, Masamune was given a horse and Olore would be reserved for his rider.

Telemachus’s eyes wash over her with seduction as words drip from his mouth.
“I am glad to hear that I tempt you…”
He glides in closer to Elestirne and twirls the staff around without any trouble as it comes to a quick halt near her hand.
“Think of it as a gift, a taste of what could be yours…take it. I promise you, I do not hold you to anything you would not wish. It’s true I desire you by my side, as my queen, as my equal. I sense a great power in you, and it is my hope to combine our strength to topple the savage Grish’nak. We are Elven, it should be us who guide this Land into a secure future.”

Masamune leaps up on the horse provided for him. He shifts around uncomfortably as he situates himself. Only the Utaku Battle Maidens ever rode horses this large. But he would deal with it, he needed to conserve his strength, and though using the winds to propel him required almost no effort, it was still strength that he would have to spend.
As the horse trotted down the path, Masamune looked at Olore. the backlash of connecting his mind to a gaijin spirit, had been unfortante. He attempted to keep his mind clear, and try to focus to strengthen the bond, without creating a backlash.
He looked up to see Nichtmar seated full bearth in front of the much smaller Strays. He seemed to want to say something in regards to their fallen friend, but felt it out of place. The thought of this seemed to leak out of his mind to Olore. After a few moments, he spoke up.
"So, if I may....just what is this land?"

As the group is led by Olore to what they hope to be the location of Lady Elestirne, they begin conversation.
Nichtmar talks to Masamune, “Well presently it appears Olore is leading us North through the Greatwood towards the Iron Mountains, I’d assume. The Iron Mountains are tremendous. They spread from far North almost all the way south, pretty much dividing the continent into two halves. The center of these mountains are pretty clustered and are the tallest. There are stretches of old caves that go on endlessly, many adventurers have died trying to map them. East of here is the River of Flame. Bigger picture, you’re in the Land Between the Land. No one really knows why or how this place exists. People arrive here through a mist. It seems to be the only continent in this world, I really don’t know. We’ve made it our home, and we hope to keep it that way.”
