It was the ears that gave me away. Well, obviously. What else would it have been? For years my mother had been telling my step-father I'd grow out of them when I got older, that her brother had had the same problem. Then, a few days after I turned fourteen, I heard him yelling at her. "Liar!" yelled my stepfather, "You liar! His father wasn't no viking chieftan, was he?" "What are you talking about?" cried my mother. "Those ears! They're not gonna go away, are they?" "what-?" began my mother. "Answer me!" roared the man. I couldn't here what my mother said next. It was very quiet. "You dirty lying whore!" yelled my father, "YOu slept with one of them! You brought one of them into this house and tricked me into raising him as my own son! I want him out! The elf leaves in the morning!" I didn't wait around - I'd seen my step-father kill a man before. I didn't own much. I packed it away and snuck out the window. Best just to leave quiet;y, I thought. That house had never given me much kindness anyway.

OC: I no it's not much, but I figured I should get started while I had a little in my head. More to come.
