Ok, so Anavrin and myself were the only Mittlemarchers that went, but it was awesome. Our team got second place at the premier fighting event in the Midwest for Amtgard, losing to a team that had far more experience than us that we pushed to the ropes for a bit.
Here's some highlight pictures of us fighting Ferrum Crux, one of the best fighting units in the midwest. Keep in mind this was a game with limited lives (5 per person) that was meant as a kind of assault flag game where you had to take the flag from the center of the bridge to the opposing teams base and hold it for 15 seconds.
A couple of both me and Anavrin

This was right as our line was breaking. We had advanced too far, they pushed us off the bridge after this:

Chaos on our side of the field:

Reforming the line:

Back to the Bridge, unfortunately the guy on the left with long hair suffered an eye injury right after this picture was taken and he was replaced:
eledan88341.smugmug.com/gallery/6087952_e3VfK#382185034_7y5AH
After this, we were at a stalemate for about 20 minutes, each team holding opposite ends of the bridge following major losses during the tougher fighting. Unfortunately for Ferrum Crux, they had lost one of their archers, and each team was limited to 2, so we held our side of the bridge and began plinking away at their armor and weapons (which are both damaged by arrows in Amtgard).

At one point we made an advance on them in an attempt to finish the job. At this point one of my polearmers was down so I had to pick one up to break down the enemy's line:

We dealt some damage in that charge but suffered further losses ourselves. Instead of chancing another rush, I formed on our end of the bridge again, intent on using our archers until they were out of mends (each team had a 'healer' with the ability to fix a limited amount of equipment). Some time later they asked for a mend count on our healer. The reeve came by and we informed him we had 41 out of 50 mends remaining. Ferrum Crux had none remaining. I had the archers continue to rain hell on them while I readied our remaining forces and advanced.
eledan88341.smugmug.com/gallery/6087952_e3VfK#382188247_QUrsk
In the end, we pushed through them and slew them to the man:

And what the hell, I'm having fun reliving this through pictures, so here's some more from the championship match against the Justicars, one of the premier national fighting units:
First one of us in line guarding against them. This entire game was one of controlling the skies as our archers fought each other while our teams remained at their own sides of the bridge. I had learned well from the fight with Ferrum Crux the dangers of leading our men forward against determined foes, and these fighters were better then our previous opponents. Oh, and note my Jane hat in this shot:

This fight lasted a long time as well due to the use of our ranged fire. Almost everyone on our team was holding a shield until the enemy team closed with us. Some good shots from both sides of our line:

eledan88341.smugmug.com/gallery/6087952_e3VfK#382195706_hdBLU
The poles came forward as the enemy team engaged:

eledan88341.smugmug.com/gallery/6087952_e3VfK#382196943_gqrmP
As the fight finally came to real blows, we began to damage the enemy line. Everyone sitting and watching cheered us on by name, and Ferrum Crux, who we had just recently beaten, stood beside us offering advice and handing new weapons to us as ours broke:

Finally we broke the enemy's line at our end of the bridge and chased them into a corner:

eledan88341.smugmug.com/gallery/6087952_e3VfK#382200155_fpe7w
Unfortunately, our advance was short lived. The defense of our own side had cost us too much. The enemy drove us back, regrouped, and met us back at our side.

At this point I had lost my final life, and I could only watch as the enemy overran our forces. As the rest of us fell we cheered on our remaining comrades from the sides as they fought to the bitter end.
