What my idea is, is that we make a somewhat big circle maybe 12x12 or 15x15 and have 2 people enter the circle. In the center are 2 short swords crossed each with a handle towards one of the fighters. Near the edge of the ring, in the 4 cardinal directions there can be a sheild, a javelin, a flail, and dagger. Each one of the 2 fighters comes in between 2 of the 4 weapons.
Thats all i got so far, and i think that it would be an interesting idea to try out, and it would help people get more asociated with the workings of different weapons and give them the chance to get used to them as well.
Post if you have any suggestions or ideas to make it better.

Basically what you have here is a modified pit fight. I LOVE pit fighting and I think it's great one on one practice and keeps people entertained, but some of our more leaderly types find it to be boring so we never really do them up here. We used to do this by having people make a circle out of their weapons and standing outside of said circle, making another concentric circle. The two fighters in the middle could choose any weapon set from the edge, but the fight began as soon as you stepped in, so you had to choose your weapon fast.

Pit fights really are pretty fun. Wish we did them more.

Sounds good. I'm going to Expand this a little. I like the idea of forcing new weapon styles on people, cuz really you should learn them all at some point.
We do one, where the loser of a bout picks the weapon style of new fighter entering the ring. And it just keeps circling around till we are tired.
I like Wulf's Thunderdome idea. We'll do it at practice.
This idea just hit me -1 life per weapon style so...(dagger,javelin, red, sword, s&b) so 5 lives -die with dagger get at the end of the line, when it gets back to you you use Javelin, etc -winner stays with whatever weapon they're on until they die

well, lets try Nichtmar's idea first and if we feel that it could be more interesting with any other weapon type, then we could throw it in, ok?

Ive found spears and polearms are bad in circle fights... crowd gets hit and they are more diff than helping.

The only possible problem i can see with this battle is not really a bad thing, but it does leave alot of downtime for those not actively fighting. It's not that we don't like them MacDimm, it's that they are time consuming, and people who want to fight get bored, this game is sounds great for a time when we are winding down at the end of practice

I think people would be more into it than you expect. I mean, every Tuesday practice I'm at, you guys keep telling people to stop standing around/ sitting and go fight. Well, said people can participate while still getting a break from fighting when running a pit setting, and still hopefully be learning something along the way. That way, everybody wins

Either way, it culd benefitall the players to, at least, have it every now and then for those who like pit fights... if we start to get bored we can always swith it out...

I also love pit fights.
We've kept it interesting for the watchers by putting four daggers on the outside ring to keep the fighters on their toes...
