Hey all, Most of you have known me for awhile now...I've been fighting for roughly 4+ years, and I've gotten to a point where I feel I'm an okay force on the battlefield. The problem lies in the fact that barely anyone outside of our realm (as in the LBTL, dead as it's supposed to be) knows me by name. The same isn't true of say, Gron or Nichtmar, of course I'm pretty sure this is because they actually try to put themselves out there. Now, I figure that if I were to take on a new name, new persona, etc. Get rid of my crappy garb and get something good, and actively try to socialize with other dagorhirrim, I too could at least be reckognized by more than a few people at events, as well as feel more defined in who my persona is supposed to be, considering I've change it so many times.... That, and since it's true that noone knows me by name, only you all would be effected. I won't say what name I was thinking about using, but I wanted to know my close friends opinions on if I should lose my current one. Personally, I hate having to say it a million times to someone for them to understand what I'm saying.... Anyway, go ahead and post your opinions, I always like hearing what my friends have to say... ~Frothy

You know, if worse comes to worse, I have it on good authority that 'Twatwaffle' is still open for use. It's definitely memorable. Alright, silliness aside, I'll try to dream up some names at work.

No no, I believe you missed the point of my thread, Dorian. I do have a name already in mind, but the reason I'm not saying what it is, is because I don't want an opinion of whether the name I choose is good or not, rather if the choice to change is a good decision or not. ~Frothy

No name changes! Took me 2 years to get Cathan's right and I think I've just got Gron down as well. You are forgetting the most important thing is that I know you. The rest are unimportant (except for Rowen). That said: if you change your name to say...Sock Puppet, or Nerf Herder. You have my support 100%.

Ahh. Gotcha. Awww... no creative fun for me. Do what you feels right. I know that sounds corny as hell, but its your character. If you'd get more enjoyment (and recognition) out of a different persona, then I'd say there's no question. Just don't be a vampire. We're a persecuted minority here in Mittelmarch.

one thing you should take into consideration Firoth is whether the people around you will let you change your name. It's not that we will not respect it, or that we will not try, but after using one name for so long it kinda becomes a hibit to call someone the name you know them as. Name changes can be done without much problem the first year or so, but After 4? i honestly don't know if i could bring myself to call you anything but Firoth

If you don't like ur name change it. it should be about what you like not others. If you want to be "Poophat St Poopshoe" that is your business

Frothy, Do not change your name. You aren't memorable because you have no friends. Just kidding!! I like Firoth and I will call you twatwaffle if you change it to anything else.
Love, Maeve

Firoth, the way to gain recognition in this game is to show up, and step up. People know and remember Sir Nichtmar and Lord Squire Gron because they are active in Mittlemarch and on the forums. They travel to events, fight hard, meet people, socialize. People remember and respect that. Changing you name will not fix that. Good garb, and better partiicipation will. There are plenty of terrible fighters out there that people know and remember because they are silly (the Militia is full of them ), or have awesome characterization and garb. The flip side is that there are hundreds of stick jocks out there that nobody remembers because all they do is show up and fight in minimum garb, left over Hot Topic crap, and only have a personna name because it is expected/required. They do not bring anything more to the game than their weapons. Hope that helps my friend.

I do appreciate the words of wisdom Oron, always do, but the name change/persona change thing was more for me than for other people. I just wanted to get what I feel would be a fresh start. I'm no longer going to do it, but it was just something that made sense to me. A sort of change from the name I made up when I was 14 and into an actual character. Regardless, I do think that people know of me, because I do go to a lot of events, I just need to reach out and socialize more is all. ~Frothy
