So, in my terrible times of missing dag...i have been watching videos of other events and such online...and In the wolf-pack opener 2009 video all of the Belegarth fighters are so freaking fast. Are there weapons lighter than ours? I didn't see many speed bats.
Also..I am planing on journeying to the northern steppes soon...Do any of you guys go?

Me and Zero pretty much split our time between the great northern savages and the civilized folk of Mittelmarch.
You wanna make a short detour off 69 on your way up there sometime, and want company, pop one of us off a message. We'll be happy to go with ye, throw in cash money / buy after activity grubbage, what ever. Numbers should be under the contact thread.

umm no there is no difference in the weapons brom, and if you look closely you might be able to pick out some familiar faces in that crowd.

Man you do the same thing I do. I sit at home and watch videos all the time. I watch them down to a science almost though. Wolfpack opener 2008 and 2009 videos are some of my favs. From my understanding so far you just have to fight as many different people as you can and fight as much as you can while you are somewhere. My problem is I watch videos and try to duplicate some of the things I see. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. Here's a few of my favs lately. Both show some crazy body mechanics that I'd like to possess.

Yea the videos always get me excited for next year.
I have realized at the events i have been to that almost everyone is willing to help you out. At the harvest feast..I think i spent like 2 hours learning lefty wraps ( which might i add...Hurt your wrists alot) and a lot of other stuff with some random guy. And it was awesome.lol
I didn't think that what Dude said to me was true, this game becomes a part of you.
Its kinda funny how something that to my knowledge didn't even exist..4 or 5 months ago can take up so much of my mind.lol

I thought the game was mainly a joke at first. Until I met the people and the fighters. changed the way I looked at it.

I thought the game was mainly a joke at first. Until I met the people and the fighters. changed the way I looked at it. Ditto. Went into it with "pff how hard is it to swing a foam sword." Then I picked one up...turns out it's pretty darn hard. Then you get over you're insecurity at being seen in public doing this and travel, taking your bright shiny new sword to somewhere else's practice and get owned by this little round rod, so you want one. Then you see another weapon and gotta have it. Before you know it you have $200 in the drain, a garage + room full smithing materials and by-products, more weapons than you can use; a large amount which won't pass but you learned something while making, have developed an immunity to DAP's smell, and find yourself spending more time trolling boards and watching video's than playing that latest MMO you spent $80 on. And yah Brom, I haven't met a vet yet at an event who, if wasn't currently engaged in a personal endeavor; wouldn't take a few minutes to explain, teach, show, or direct you to someone who knows more about what your asking than they do. Just starting out, you gotta sort of take everything with a grain of salt until you learn who knows what their talking about and who hasn't play longer'en you but is just a good BS'er. BTW on the wrap, they say if it HURTS to do it then you're doing it wrong and probably causing soft tissue damage if done over a prolonged period. If it's just muscles being used you haven't before, ok.

Rune tells me he does his wraps completely closed fist. Compared to the thumb up on handle. You can also try doing those with thumb on the flat of the blade.

I use a really heavy blue.lol It tears my wrists up. Oof and Gron taught me a better way to do it. Havnt really had time to do it tho...seeing how that was one of the last practices. lol Stubbie that is exactly the right way to put that...my room is covered in blue foam...the parental unit is always complaining about the dap smell...lol And the 5 weapons i have made...all fail...miserably.lol And i dont even wanna talk about my failed shield i made...I finished it...just in time for trash day...lol It seems my brain doesnt wanna let me make a giant punch shield.lol And I do the same as Rune...Only because some dude almost destroyed my poor thumb one day..

heh glad we have another one in the fold.
That's because it knows your supposed to use a strap instead of a punch. Although you need to talk to Militis and Beard up in the NS if your trying to make an all-blue punch, they've made some good one's.

I agree. Strap shields are my personal favorite, but Brom got to hear all about that at Bdubs when I was in town for that last practice Those were some awesome videos Zero. I'm with you guys. I've spent way more time on Dag then I ever thought I would when I joined: I can't help but get hyped when I get new building materials or plan out armor. Never thought I'd be so excited about foam And Brom, you might consider setting up a punching bag (or even a trash-bag filled with clothes) and whacking it with a sword for a bit if you haven't already. It's no substitute for a sparring partner, but it'd give you something to practice on.

lol...Dude the punching bag went up right after my first practice. ( i prolly don't use it as much as i should...but its there). Idk...I think i will start out with a big and scary shield, then eventually move to a Shield like Nichtmars round shield. I blame Runes and Nichtmars punch Shields they were both quite fantastic. If i could stand in front of a charging Baethor with the punch shield..then thats the shield i want.lol And i actually may talk to Militis and Beard today..If my work lets me off b4 5 or 6. Im hoping to go to NS today.
