can axes and hammers have stabbing tips on the top like a spike? and can you have one side be a hammer and the other an axe(i mean possible from a foamsmithing standpoint, will it be stable)?

Yes, they can, but obviously safety and stability have to be considered as with any other weapon. In fact, there aren't any weapons I can think of that couldn't conceivably have a stabbing tip (You obviously don't stab with arrows, but it's similar). If there are, someone please correct me.
As for a Axe/Hammer, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. It would technically be called a Maul. You'd just have to be aware that the more foam you slap on that weapon's head, the harder it may hit.

this is my design for either a one or two handed maul. is it feasable? each color is a new layer of blue foam, and boxes with diagonal lines are open-cell. should i have a layer to wrap around the outside of the axe and hammer heads separately? or just one on the hammer? i have 4 designs pick one.

I'm going to tell you now that any of those designs would be massively heavy and unwieldy, and either head could easily be taken off if the weapon got hooked wrong on a shield. The weapon that you're describing is basically a combination of the three weapons that are hardest to make a durable version of: axe, hammer, and stabby tip. I know we've said it, but you really may want to consider making more basic weapons for now. Practice makes perfect, as does spending a lot of time fighting to get a feel for the properties of different weapons and constructions. Everyone that's relatively new to the game wants to build ridiculously awesome elaborate weapons, but without practice doing the most basic of shapes, chances are very slim of making something both safe and useful for fighting. I'm not saying this to discourage you from building weapons, it's one of my favorite things. But take a look at some established designs, try to build basic models, get those passed, fight with them a while and then expand on it. Whenever you see someone with an amazing and awesome looking sword or axe, keep in mind that they probably built 10 weapons before that to get it to that point. Ultimately, it's your foam. I'm just trying to give advice as an experienced player and foamsmith so that you can build something that will be functional and help you to grow as a fighter.

i dont want to make it my friend does. i just drew it up for him. and i do realize that i have to start small. its just big ideas like this take a while to develop. And by the time I am ready to help my friend build this, i will have a well built plan. i might just get marine foam and cut them out of that. i hope you now understand what i am trying to do, and in no way do i mean any dis-respect.

I'd say the best idea would be just to try your hand at making axes and hammers. Once you're fairly certain you can make them very well, add stabbing tips. From there you might try combining all three.

hell, i been around for years and haven't even tried axes. thats how weary i am of them. they aren't easy to keep on hand.
god forgive me I once tore the head off of one of Baethors new hand axes, and that guy is the god-king of axes as far as i'm concerned.

Tis true i am. It was the right twin of my new florentine pair that you broke because your tried to block it by smothering it with your arm after it collided with your kidneys.
My waraxe "Doric" is a blue/green that i've only have to re-build once because the foam broke down to severely. I'll bring it along some saturday practice and show you how i built it.
