OK, so. getting right to it. Last year it really felt like the brunt of the work was set on the shoulders of kain and his crew cooking, nichtmar, oof, me and a very sparse handful of MMers heralding, and a bunch of out of towners helping with weapons check. The council needs you civilians of MM to understand that this event is more for our out of town friends and less for us, we really need you all to step up to the plate this year volunteering for weapons check, troll, heralding, especially during the tournaments, and anything else the council needs you to do. This does not mean we don't expect you to fight at all, but just remember that this event isn't just for us anymore. And this year will probably be our biggest Olympics yet (last year we almost doubled the number of our previous year.) In the upcoming months as practices become more regular we're going to make it a point to herald more and more and train you up to check weapons with the best of them. we have a lot of experience here in MM so if your not sure, ask a vet what they think. I'll be more then happy to teach anyone how to properly check weapons. Plus remember this gives you all a big step up for when rag comes around (it always looks good when a few people from the realms offer to help weapons check, or herald for a day or two.) I would like to thank any of the MMers who helped out last year because it really helped a lot more then you know. the council was whipped after the O's last year and none of us got to join in the fun because we were busy running everything. So please Mittelmarchers. Show your stuff and step up to the plate to help make this Olympics the best run one yet. Addendum: For any of our friends from out of town, if you have any noobies who you want whipped into shape for weapons checking and heralding, we'll happily take them from you

Will herald again.
Would like to try and do the Daggers tourney if we are good on heralds for it, but I will refrain if it is not possible.

I personally would be more than happy to weapons check. I did a small bit at Crown Wars; wasn't too bad. Of course, this is going to be a much larger event, so I'll be glad to have some more training time. And I'm with Zig; might pass on the heralding. A bit too confrontational for me at this point. I've refereed for various sports in the past and there were times that were just pure hell. If you need me to, I could, but I'd rather not obviously. Troll would be fine as well. And whatever you do, don't make me cook. Dorian can't cook to save his life.

no worries the council is handling the feast quite adequetly this year. are you saing that heralding is to confrontational? orthat you are? Because heralds who dont mind telling people to f-off and keep playing are good

ok folks here is the breakdown of personel we will need at the O's and this is minimum, setup: 15 on call, but not always busy with this Troll: 2 people at all times troll is open weapons check: 20 for approximatly an hour heralds: 5 for the main field battles 15 during the tournaments feast: I am handling this one personally if we need more it will be the setup people cleanup: I CANNOT stress this enough we have 1 hour between the time the site closes and the time we need to be off the grounds with cleanup being done EVERYONE needs to help with this on sunday morning if you are in any way capable
As with previous years i would like to be able to say if this is your first olympics relax and enjoy the event but i am not sure we will be able to do that this year. So if this is your first olympics we can always use more bodies at weapons check and setup and it should allow you to fight in the battles and such. If this is not you will probably be asked to fill a more significant role.
Several of you have heard me say this but i have never posted it on the boards. I do not like the Olympics. The reason? We have to run it, and that means it is a lot of work for us. The thing is folks we throw this event in the hopes that we will get invited to other peoples events, and that is where we have fun. This one we work at all the rest we play

Stubbie will volunteer for anything but troll . Needs training on heralding and clarification of what weapon checking procedures we will be using.
Don't *HAVE* to be impartial to herald do you?

if i can go(I am convincing dad on facebook while typing this) I would love to help with setup if I can, and I love to cook. I know I am a noob but I will help wherever whenever. My friend/chaperone might not want to fight but he might take pictures. I can also take pictures.

I will be more than happy to do whatever you need someone to do. I'm positive I can weapons check, I would be fine heralding for the tourneys, and I'm not a completely terrible cook . I would need training to do troll though.

Thats good nova, cause you dont get a choice this year We'll explain later. Stubbie: We used dag weapons checking procedures, but if a bel fighter has a legal bel weapon that doesnt quite meet dag standards we'll usually pass it on a case by case basis so that our bel friends can fight. Amtgard weapons aint kosher unless they are the proper weight (12oz for blues) and have the correct amount of striking surface. @ rojji: Rojji we need you to get with oof the next practice your at, more then likely even though your going to have a "Gaurdian" the council will want to talk to your father. The O's isnt like any event you've been to and we want him to understand whats gonna be going on so that it doesnt come back and bite us in the ass.

Mostly I am questioning if we are going strictly by the MoA or are we using the "unofficial...official" rules being used at Rag.

My father won't be letting me fight until we are positive that thee wreck didn't cause any hidden injuries that dag may bring out. So I'm volunteering for anything that doesn't require me to be hit. So weapons checking is a no but everything else is ok.
