The park director came down and said that we can no longer practice in his park. Not bring this up as a rally to war but to have some questions answered. How many rights do we in dag posses? Are we allowed to practice on public grounds? If not where can we practice that will allow us to stay away from people who don't understand our sport? Feel free too comment any way you wish but I would like some feed back on new locations or how we can get our old one back if possible.

sorry to hear that. Bureaucratic park Nazis. No fun.
What park? Is it a city park? Public? State?

Masahiro has all the info. It ticks me off to because with others helping him he was getting new members into dag. Even a police officer.

Well, at the same sense that does suck, we also must respect the wishes of those who own the park. I understand that you don't want to start a war, but on the same token we should instead move on and try to find a different place to practice at and make sure that permission is given by the people who own the grounds. If there are any suggestions for any parks or large open areas around Ellswood for the Kanthea realmers to go, please post a link to that parks place or the name and phone number of a person in that area for Masahiro to call and arrange an agreement for practices.

Practice area: Callaway Park, Elwood Indiana Owned by the City and the park director The park is a public one, but the director says that in order to do anything i have to go to a meeting with the parks department after writing a summary of at least 400 words or 6 pages worth of material on what we are doing and what is going to be used and what is planned....and even then it may not be approved after 4 times in a year, you cant try to get it approved.
I have tried this, and they said we could practice but could not hold events. Now the parks department is going back on their word so says the director. Who said get off the property and never come back. Or the cops will be called.
So now we have no grounds.

We'll I'd follow their procedures very carefully and call and ask them who and where you can appeal their decision to. Make sure you document everything.
If they are still inflexible you can always contact or threaten them with the ACLU etc...

If you guys needed a place to practice in the mean time I'm not sure how far away BSU is from you guys but you're all welcome over here at any time.
Hopefully this can get sorted out soon enough for you guys though. Good luck. :/

About a 20 minute to 30 minute drive. But yea. It looks like Elwood practices maybe a dead end. I'm gonna see if I can talk to a few lawyers about what rights we do have as dag players to public grounds etc.

uh, if the owner of the park says leave, your pretty much boned. just find a new park and put it behind you is my suggestion.
So what happened that made him flip like that? there must have been a circumstance.

There's other parks in Anderson. I'd say it's not worth taking on the man about it.

I would suggest just find yourselves a new park and get practices going again. Honestly its not that big of a deal.

Didn't mean to say it that way. Meant to find out if a lawyer knew where we had a right to go with out being kicked out.

Most of the time, if someone comes to you and says "Get out of our park and don't come back", the situation was badly handled on both ends. The park director would not have approached you about it unless they had a reason to feel that what was being done was unsafe or otherwise disruptive to the rest of the citizens using the park. That being said, often times there is a miscommunication between the park director and the people running practices. We had a situation similar to this with the police down in Evansville after someone reported that we were "hitting each other with swords" to the local fuzz. Dhugal took some time to explain the game and weapons technology with the officer and we were never bothered again about it. Technically, if you're not breaking park rules they shouldn't be able to kick you out. They couldn't throw out a frisbee league, for instance, for practicing. And I'm sure they wouldn't throw out people playing football. But if they feel that it's unsafe or disruptive and have clearly stated that you are an unwanted presence, then it's really best to just move on, relations are never going to fully smooth out. I drive 25 minutes to the CLOSE practice for me from south side indy Just saying. Also 400 words and 6 pages are two entirely different numbers. 1500 words is about 5 pages, assuming double spacing size 12 font. Either way, that's around a page.

and Aris's group practices in anderson....we dont have any association to him...plus its a drive...20 minutes or so. How many practices are within like...45 minutes of each other? Is there you guys, the Anderson guys, and Stormhaven? I didn't realize there were so many of us around. & if 20 minutes is a drive I take a long trip each time I go to Northern Steppes practice when I'm home. It takes me roughly 45 minutes to drive to practice. Maybe 30 if I'm lucky.

Nice Job. Glad it worked out for you.
As for why you got kicked out. Maybe someone shield bashed a rubbernecker's car.
Didn't Baethor do that on the East side this year and the guy called the cops?
I heard about this later as it happened after I had left unfortunately...
