So I seen someones blade had a dragoon (i believe) symbol on the cloth cover near the hilt of the sword and was wondering how this is done? I think it would be cool to do something similar with my name in greek to mark them as mine! Θάνατος

Fabric paint is what I've used. I'd say you could stencil it, but the closed nature of the characters prevents that without modification of the writing.
I'd say fabric paint is your best option. Apply it with a brush for best results.

If your sword is black, Silver (metallic) Sharpies work fairly well, if it is other than black a regular black sharpie would work just as well as a fabric marker.

I decided to go with fabric paint since i wanted it to be red (im picky lol) so we shall see how this goes!

Turned out pretty well I have no camera atm :\ lol lukan seen it at practice ill be getting my camera within a few weeks tho!

btw my first sword was made with thicker barstock and my shortest sword as a nice grip i feel
