I was wondering if anyone had patterns for pants that I could look at? Also rune/lukan could I use the pattern you have?

I included my pants tutorial that I learned from. I follow the basic pattern, but with wider fabric around the ankles, and I sew up the sides to have complete pants. Attachments:

How about your tunics rune? Do you follow a pattern? I'm searching for different garb ideas atm to expand and figure out what I want to make

www.dagorhir.com/gear/content/garb/bocksten_tunic.phpPattern my tunics are roughly based on. If you follow the pattern, you'll have a similar style. I like shorter, wider sleeves, and no armpit gussets. (Use gussets, they were invented for a reason. I need to start using them.)

Just a note on that bocksten tunic pattern; the 8" gussets are too large for most people.
I would recommend only cutting a 5" or 6" square gusset for each arm, unless you are packing some monster guns (I'm talking full on Christmas hams here).

Thanks duke. I'll keep my next pair of gussets down to a Christmas chicken instead.

linen or wool 5.3 oz ish linen and wool suiting for shirts/tunics I have heard people using upto 7-8oz for heavier tunics though pants just depend what ya want and how heavy you want them and how warm you want them

So the part I had circled. I am making them as regular pants, so I need to make that edge from corner to corner six inches, or is the left corner six inches from the fold? *Also does the extra four inches from the hip to ankle length account for the belt part? Attachments:

6 inches from the fold, so 12 inches total. That will make for some fairly snug fitting pants. I make them slightly larger personally. The extra 4 inches in length helps accommodate your hemmed edges and allows for them to not look like capris.

The mail, go to the store and ask for a coupon, do a search online. If you have a smart phone, JoAnns has a downloadable app which has coupons in them. Keep up to date on this thread www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php/topic,22474.0.html if you dont mind ordering fabric online.

What Rune is saying is that you can sign up for coupons from Jo-Anns and they will mail them to you every so often. Other than that, your best bet is to buy online. This can be difficult for some because of the desire to hold what you are purchasing in your hands before buying. These links are listed in the thread that Rune posted, but to save you a little searching I'll list some for you. www.fabrics-store.com/first.php?goto=showarticles&menu=f&article=1 www.fabric.com/Index.aspxwww.fabricmartfabrics.com/xcart/home.php100% Linen is going to be your best bet in my opinion. It may be a bit more expensive up front than some fabrics, but it will last you much longer and is period correct. I can make a bocksten style tunic for myself for a little over 3 yards. Linen also will absorb sweat better than some other types of fabric, making it feel more comfortable against the skin. Back on topic though. Any fabric store will have a basic scrub pants pattern that you can buy. Its not period correct, but if you make it out of a good period looking material, no one will ever really notice.

i am still confused because my numbers wont add up to follow their directions..... so is this correct. I take the 1 1/2 yards, cut it in the middle "hamburger-style", and fold each section "hot dog style" and then cut out my pants like the following? I will show my measurements in a second reply. Because they do not add up. I apologize in advance for triple posting, if there is a way to post multiple pictures please let me know, and if so can I modify a post to add an attachment. Attachments:

Here is what I calculated i needed. The width of the cloth for each piece unfolded needs to be approximately 33 3/4". I got this because of the 6" crotch allotment at the top and since my waist divided by four plus two is 11, I used trig to find an angle on the diagram, then plugged in my numbers to get the 10 7/8" measurement that you see. I just wanna know two things. 1)How exactly to draw the stencil. and 2) How much fabric to buy. Here are my necessary body measurements Groin to ankle==31" Waist========36" Hip to ankle====36" I want actual pants so i will sew them up the sides, and I'm going to have like a rope belt or something cuz my tunic should cover it. I want to get as much legit stuff as i can before the O's, so help please! i need this info ASAP cuz i have a 40% off promo code at joannes and its only till the 25th This is the fabric i am thinking of, it is only 54" wide though but very cheap. www.joann.com/sew-classic-black-hopsack-linen/zprd_10496123a/I went to the handy dandy fashion department and they explained it so nevermind and sorry for self-bumping.

How I make pants:
Buy 2 yards of fabric + something for drawstrings
Cut fabric into 1 yard sections. Fold them in half longways so it looks like a hot dog bun. -Do the same for the other section as well -Lay both halves on top of each other Cut out the crotch section for both at the same time. -After cutting out, open both pieces of cloth and lay them on top of each other. Sew along the crotch ( I sew twice to give it extra strength)
Fold down top hem/drawstring holder and sew closed. Do the same for the other side. Put the pants on and see if they are too long for you. If they are, cut them down to size. Hem the bottoms of them after sizing.
If pants are too wide for your liking, now is when you need to cut them down. After sizing to your specifications, sew up the sides and your done.
Easy peasy.
