As chapter heads, we received some information about the Ragnarok customs for this year......please read below:
The Field Customs check point will inspect every person heading onto the field-- both combatant, and non combatant participants. We will look at each weapon and piece of armor for pass stickers, so please have all your gear out and ready for inspection. Again this year, the Day Event Coordinator and the heralds on the field are supporting us; Please tell them if you see anything or anyone that slips past the Field Customs check. The Day Event Coordinator has asked us to take the Rag Tags numbers for folks that volunteer and any trouble makers.
Here are the garb guidelines for this year. If you have any question about whether or not your kit will pass, please take a few pictures of yourself in your gear as you plan to wear it onto the field. Email those pictures to Svava at svavagoviking@gmail.com. The Field Customs team can help you fix any major issues with your kit, and get you field-ready.
Shoes- Shoes are shoes; your best bet is in finding neutral colored plain shoes or boots that are unobtrusive to the medieval high fantasy atmosphere. No logos or neon colors will be allowed on the field. Vibrams and similar shoes will be treated like other footwear; they’ll be fine on the field as long as they lack visible logos or neon colors.
Visible white socks- Oh Lord in Heaven above, this was one of the biggest issues at the check point every single day. Visible white socks will not be allowed on the field at Ragnarok. Period. Cover them up completely or wear different socks. Remember, just like modern clothing, if we can't see it and it stays covered, it passes.
Modern Clothing- Sorry, modern clothing will not be allowed onto the field at Ragnarok. This includes items covered by the MoA and clothing such as jeans, track pants, tripp/bondage pants, polo shirts, uncovered sports bras, uncovered t shirts, and uncovered wife beaters. T shirts, bras, wife beaters, and similar articles of clothing must be covered by something more than a tabard. As a rule of thumb: if we can't see it, it passes.
Bra Straps- If the rest of your bra is covered by a tunic or a similar garment and it’s not neon colored, bra straps showing are fine. Please, try to find a neutral colored sports bra if possible. Remember, if we can’t see it, we don’t care.
Sunglasses- Sun glasses will need a safety rating of ASTM F803 or better and can not have mirrored lenses.
Facial Hair- Terrible facial hair will be banned from the field at Ragnarok this year. A good rule of thumb is if an onlooker would be concerned over your presence at a playground or kindergarten, it’s terrible facial hair and it has no place in Dagorhir. Individuals attempting to gain access to the field with terrible facial hair will be fined exactly 182 lime flavored skittles. I will count them.
Kneepads/Gloves/other safety gear- Logos on safety gear must be covered completely and visible neon colored safety gear will not be allowed onto the field. Please cover your gear so it is unobtrusive to the medieval high fantasy atmosphere. The easiest way to cover most safety gear is with garb.
Underarmor- Underarmor will be treated like safety gear. All logos must be covered, it may not be neon colored, and one should cover it with garb. This year, we will not allow UA on the field if the collar sticks out further than two inches from your tunic or shirt collar. UA must also match the color of the tunic you are wearing onto the field if it is visible.
Hats-No modern hats will be allowed on the field. This includes baseball caps, cadet caps, fedoras, cowboy hats, and cabby hats. This list is, of course, non-exhaustive.
Non-Coms/Photographers/
Parents- Yet again, the participation rules in the Dagorhir MoA apply to non-combative participants at Ragnarok. If you paid for the event and signed a waiver, you are a valued Dagorhir participant and these rules apply to you as well. Please plan for this if your camp will have someone’s parents, children, or SOs who would like to watch the fighting.
Resources-The most sure fire way to get passing garb is to make a knee length or longer bell tunic or Bocksten tunic and simple pants. All of these are easy to make. The Bocksten Tunic can also be lengthened and made into a dress.
