The Legend of Cathán: A New Beginning I decided to travel north to find a town or someone who could tell me where I was. On my travel I felt as if I was being watched, but I could not figure out who. I found a clearing in the forest and saw who was following me. There were three orcs behind me. I did not know why they had been following me because I did not know where I was. Maybe I was in their territory. I had no intention to fight but it was inevitable. As soon I brought my mace up to ready myself the smallest of the three orcs charged me. I did not have much of a problem beating this one. I did not kill him because I knew if I did the other two would attack. Not that I wouldn’t mind a little blood shed I just didn’t like the smell of their kind. As I prepared for the other two someone dropped down from a tree in the middle of the clearing. She was a druid, from where I do not know. The orcs looked like they knew because they said something that I did not understand and then they charged. One came for me and just as he swung his sword I rolled out of the way. At the same time I pulled my father’s dagger out. I turned to face my opponent and as usual the dagger stunned him so I finished him off quickly but reluctantly because of how bad they smell. When I was finished I looked around and the druid had easily finished the other orc off. The orc that I knocked out came back around. He realized what happened and took off so he didn’t end up like his comrades. I figured if we didn’t hurry to safety that there would be more coming. I looked around to see where the druid went but I could not find her but she did leave a sign to point me in the direction I should go. Before I left I searched the dead bodies for anything useful. I took their weapons hoping that I could swap them for a little bit of money or food. I also destroyed the sign she left so that I wouldn’t be followed. On my travel to where ever I was going I was able to see most of the land and it was beautiful. I felt free and not judged because of the way I looked. I could do what I want and be myself with out worrying about what people thought. After a couple of days travel I came to a town. I guessed this was where the druid wanted me to go. There were guards posted at the gate and I was a little bit afraid to approach for fear that they would not let me enter. If I didn’t try then I would be stuck out here and not know anything about this place and I needed answers. The guards had no problem with me entering luckily. The guards were able to tell me that I was in The Land Between The Lands and that this place was called Mittelmarch. When I went through the gates I noticed that there wasn’t just humans living here. There were all different kinds of races some that I had never seen before. The first place I went to was the weapon smith so I could trade in the swords that I got off the orcs. I didn’t get much for them seeing that the metal was in poor condition but I did get enough for food and lodging for the night. I also found out while talking to the smith that the land is alive and that I was brought here because of the land. It selects certain people to bring here but nobody truly knows why. Also that there isn’t a way back to my home, so it seems like I’m going to be here for a while. I was getting hungry so I decided to head to the tavern to get dinner and some rest. - to be continued -

The Legend of Cathán I was born from my human mother, Bree, a father that I never knew. I didn’t have the innocent or peaceful childhood in my homeland of Firefax. I never had any friends due to my fiery red eyes and intimidating fangs, but my mother loved me regardless and that took the pain away. I wasn’t able to go out during the day because my mother feared that I would get hurt, so I would venture out of my house at night to cause trouble. From this I learned how to conceal myself in any situation. I also learned the remarkable trade of theft, and was able to claim a few treasures to call my own. One night when I was 14, I snuck out of the house to have a little fun. It was a common pastime of mine. The empty streets were always more inviting to me at night then in the day, more accepting. Everything was going as usual when I heard a familiar scream tear through the air. I recognized it as my mother’s and ran as fast as I could to our house. By the time I got there the house had gone up in flames and I saw an ominous figure looming in the shadows next to the tree line. I tried as best I could to reach my mother who was trapped inside but I couldn’t get to her in time and the house collapsed. Full of rage, I went to look for the person responsible for starting the fire and killing my beloved mother. I looked for hours but the only trace I could find of the culprit was a dagger and a Celtic cross medallion. I kneeled to retrieve the medallion, but when I reached to touch it my hand was scalded. Baffled, I decided to wrap it and carry it with me in my tunic. To no surprise, no one would help me find the one who killed my mother or give me shelter for the night. Fortunately, it was mid spring and the weather was comfortable. I stayed in Firefax for almost a week on my own. The solitude didn’t bother me because I was accustomed to being on my own and watching out for myself. I was never very fond of the superficial humans that I had always been surrounded by. Fear, hate, disgust, that’s all they had to offer me. I felt as if I were a wasp submerged in a swarm of moths. I was trying desperately to uncover the man who killed my mother and seek my revenge, but I knew I wasn’t getting anywhere. I didn’t linger any longer , and decided it would be best to leave Firefax and maybe get some help in another town. All of my possessions had been destroyed in the fire. The only things I had now were the dagger and medallion that I found and a piece of my mother’s fabric from her dress that I had tied on my left arm. The night that I left I acquired a map to help me on my journey. It was a complete map of my country, Amuria. Firefax was the town farthest south. I decided to go to the next town north of Firefax, Monk’s Pounddon. On my journey to the next town I discovered something about the new dagger while I was hunting. I was tracking a rabbit when I startled it, but instead of running it sat paralyzed. I found it’s behavior bizarre considering that all the other animals I had hunted ran when confronted. I thought something must have been wrong with the rabbit so I leaned forward and poked it. Then as if suddenly aware of the situation the rabbit snapped out of it’s trance and ran away. This happened to all of the animals I hunted with the dagger. When I approached them with the dagger they would not move. It was as if they were in so much shock that their muscles didn’t work, like that of a corpse. I didn’t understand it but it made hunting a hell of a lot easier. When I reached Monk’s Pounddon I became acquainted with Garsim, a blind monk. He noticed I wasn’t from around there because I was coated with the smell of blood. I asked for his help and he said he would assist me with what he could. I gave him the medallion and asked if he knew anything about it. The monk recognized it, and knew much about it because it belonged to a friend of his, Naxy. Garsim took me to see Naxy and when I met him he was very suspicious of me because of how I looked. I found out that he was in Firefax because of a demon named Pytho. He had been trying to stop Pytho from killing Bree, but he failed. I didn’t understand why he wanted to kill my mother, then Naxy told me that Pytho raped Bree about 14 years ago and he found out she had his child. Pytho had come back to kill her and their son. I realized then that I was half demon and that he wanted to kill me too, but why. What did I do to him to want to kill me? When I asked if the dagger was his he told me that it belonged to Pytho and that they could not touch it because it was cursed. Only one of evil can hold it. That is why I can use it but I cannot touch the medallion. Naxy also told me that the dagger has powers that stunned whomever it is used to kill. That is why the animals I hunted didn’t move when I was in their sight. I didn’t tell them that I was Cathán Neamnaofa, Pytho’s son, because I feared that they would exile me from Monk's Pounddon and I needed to get more information. I wanted to know where Pytho was and how I could kill him. I didn’t have any weapon training, I only knew how to hunt. Naxy and Garsim both decided that I should go to the city Darkfox to get my weapons training and then to Port Silver Gulch to take a ship to Celtin Island. That was where Pytho was last spotted. They told me that I needed to find Rancer, the general of the army in Darkfox. I needed to tell him that the monks sent me because I am hunting Pytho and I need to learn how to fight. I stayed there for the night, gathered some proficiencies, and took off for Darkfox early the next morning. The trip to Darkfox was only a one day journey. When I got there it didn’t take me long to find Rancer. He wasn’t hard to miss, a giant in a city of men. I explained to him what I was told to and he looked me up and down and then told a soldier to get me situated, because I was going to be there for a while. He was right, I was there for four years learning how to fight in many styles and to better take care of myself while I was in the wilderness. My favorite style to fight in was florentine maces, but I still had to learn sword and board as well. After my years of training, Rancer said he could not help me any longer and that I was his best fighter because of having demon blood in me. He knew I was part demon, but didn't tell anyone including me. I fought harder than any of his other men and was stronger and faster than them too. I decided my time had come to leave in search for my father to avenge my mother’s death. I had acquired a set of maces, some gold, and friends who I will never forget. I left Darkfox on a clear summer day. The trip to Port Silver Gulch was a week’s worth. On my journey there I got caught in a fog so thick I could barely see my hand in front of me. It came during the night and I went the direction I thought I was suppose to go to get to Port Silver Gulch. I walked for two days before the fog cleared. I was still in the woods but they weren’t the same. There was a different feeling about this place. I looked at my map and realized that I was somewhere other than Amuria. - to be continued - i know its long but i like it. post comments on the other thread so this can just be for my story. thanks

Cathán pulls the fruit off his head and tosses it back to ichabod. "I do not know what Isen wants you or Kazzell to do, I'm just comming to get you. This way you don't get lost and Kazzell can actually come to town for an important reason. If we travel this way long enough we should run into him sooner or later."
Cathan starts jogging ahead trying to move his treant friend along so that they could get to Kazzell before he left to meet up with Gravein.

as the sun rises Cathan wakes with it. he has only slept a couple of hours to get a little rest. he gets up and starts moving NW again. a couple of hours have gone by and suddenly Cathan sees something move just to his right. he stops to check and hide. about 50 yds out a try the looks of an orc is slowly moving through the forest. Cathan realizes it is Ichabod. "I am glad he has found his way thus far. i was a little afraid he might have gotten lost," Cathan thinks to himself.
he decides to play a little trick on Ichabod. he sneaks around behind him. slowly comming up beside him with out make any noise, Cathan starts walking next to Ichabod.
Startling Ichabod, Cathan says, "So I see you have found your way here, I guess we should go together to find Kazzell. we don't have much time, I have already got my orders and I shall be leaving in a couple of days."

It is dark and damp in the tunnels that Cathan is running in. there is no light for he knows these tunnels far to well. sweat dripping down his face, he seems to be deep in thought.
" What are we going to do about these Jovians," he thinks to himself, " they cannot take this place. Not my home. We are going to need a couple more to help with this and i know just who."
It looks like he has made it to a dead end. Cathan goes up to the wall, puts his hands against it feeling the rough, cool rock infront of him. He starts to push, his arms buldging and his feet digging into the ground beneath. the wall starts to shake then, slowly it begins to move inch by inch. After a couple of minutes there is a crack on the side big enough for Cathan to squeeze through. The cool breeze from the outside is lightly blowing through. He knows that he must hurring just incase anyone is watching. Cathan slips through the crack and pushes the bolder back into place.
It is dark out and it is quiet in the great woods just North of Mittelmarch. Cathan takes a quick break by a nearby stream to cool off, before he is on his way again traveling NorthWest.
" Kazzel will be of great use for this and Ichabod should be on his way, so long as he got my directions correct." he thinks to himself as he starts sprinting through the forest. No light to give away his possition just the light wisp of his bare feet brushing over leaves.

"I will see you in three days, i dont have much to get ready." Cathan says to Gravein. Then he tells Isen "I'll inform kazzel and ichabod of what the plan is and have them speak with you as soon as possible because I believe that they could be of some help."

Cathan snears at Suihaden, " Soldier of heaven, pphh." Then he turns to Rune walking. He doesn't say a word he just smirks at how silly Rune always is.
After listening to what the future King said Cathan answers, " I think if we were scared that we would not come back alive that we would not have shown up here answering your call for us. I myself will relish the day that i die, for then will i see my father, in this so called Hell, and I can kill him many times over. So who is going on this mission?" He has a hungry look in his eyes like that of a wolf preparing for the kill of an elk.

" I keep getting this weird feeling about these Jovians. I've seen them around and they are not like any whom i have met before. They bother me very much and very few things do that. I fear that something is going to happen to the Land and to our home." Cathan says in his soft voice back to Gravien.
Listening to Suihaden, Cathan replies," If there is such a thing as a Heaven and a Hell well then I'll be meeting my father in hell if i don't meet him here. I'm already damned for the place anyway because of him."

during dinner the cloaked figure takes off his hood to reveal long flowing white hair and horns just underneath them. His red eyes slowing staring at everyone as they eat. He sits on the opposset side of Baethor. He does not eat or say a word. He looks like he is in deep thought.

As Isen is speaking to the other two people who walked in, the cloaked figure goes and sits next to Baethor.
" Baethor, my brother, how are you doing? Its has been so long since I last saw you. Ichabod should be on his way. I went to tell him before I came here." his voice is so soft that only Baethor could really here him.

Out of the shadows steps a cloaked figure. He walks up to Isen and sticks out a red toned hand with a flyer in it.
"Hello brother, I noticed this flyer on the streets outside and I think I might be of some service." his raspy voice barely audible, not much more then a wisper.
