Olore's ears swiveled abruptly and he wheeled as a figure appeared, aided by a cold wind that swept the stallion's forelock back and set his mane streaming behind him until it dissipated. The silver stallion's muscles bunched and tensed;ears lacing back slightly as he pawed the ground slowly with a long foreleg. His nostrils flared as he caught the newcomer's scent, and he recognized him as the one who had helped he and his lady earlier. Relaxing only slightly,Olore watched warily and quietly as the stranger began to approach. He held himself still, but his taut muscles quivered with energy and checked power.
The stranger halted about ten feet from him and Olore kept his gaze on him suspiciously;obvious intelligence brimming in his deep eyes. He noted the eagle, but did not react as it landed at his side, then fluttered to the man's shoulder. The wolf recieved only marginally more notice;earning the barest forward flicker of the stallion's ear as it padded forward to the man's side and sat there.
Olore tilted his head slightly as he regarded the stranger;deep, intellingent eyes narrowing. This one was not as he appeared. There was more to him. At first glance he looked like any other mortal, but the wind, the way he had conjured the sword back with the orcs, and the presence of the wolf and eagle told the silver stallion otherwise. Olore sensed a strange magic or power about him-and the stranger's violet eyes and snowy skin were obvious indications that he was not full mortal.
The silver stallion snorted softly as he looked at the man. He sensed something about this one's mind as well,a certain quality the stallion had never encountered from any mortal creature, and only a scarce few times from elves-and that very rarely. There was an ethrereal, otherwordly quality to this one,yet Olore also sensed powerful magic and attunement to nature. A strange spirit or elemental of sorts then,or carrying blood of one... His ears pricked slightly before lacing back again. This is interesting indeed...mayhaps I can make myself understood in some way to this one...he won't be able to understand my thoughts as Elestirne can,but he should be able to get the impressions of them,or images..?
Olore snorted again-looking at the man consideringly with his deep intelligent eyes. He knew that the strange one had sensed the stallion had said something while pummeling the gate, but hadn't made it out. Olore lowered his head just slightly to be on a more equal level with the figure and snorted again;pawing the ground. He was unsure where to begin. The only other times that the silver stallion had directed his thoughts to others of this world,Elestirne had been at his side to repeat it if it had been important. But he had to try. Rescuing his lady depended on making himself understood to others..
The magnificent stallion blew out his breath lightly, and pawed the ground again. This one had been following him-it was plain he was either interested in the stallion, wanted something of him,or both. And he might be able to help him get through the gate, into the city and thence to Zaron and Nichtmar... The stallion's ears laced back again briefly as he reared with a ringing neigh to smote the gate again and call once again for Zaron and Nichtmar-then pricked forward slightly once more as he turned back to the figure. The silver stallion's distress and urgency were plainly evident-as was his desire to get into the city-but he collected his thoughts and spoke;pawing the ground. Strange windwalker...why have you followed me? Stamping a hoof uneasily, the stallion shifted a little-glancing back at the battered gates as he waited for the strange one's answer. He must get inside and get to Zaron and Nichtmar! His lady was depending on him and he would not let her down...

Taos' own stallion had returned back to the group, and he walked over to it, idly rubbing it down as he thought. He had been a good horse, and Taos could only hope he would find a steed to match during his travels.
As he listened to Storm's questions, he began to remove the necessities from his saddlebags. Food, water, flint and steel, a number of knives of varying size and use, and his bow and arrows. As he worked, he answered Storm.
"This is not the last of them...not for many years yet, I think. This time will be a crucible for the people of this land, and no help can be looked for from beyond the Black Door. Aid will come, but not at the expected time. The foe's cunning is great, and I have been out-thought at every turn...because of this, a great sorrow will befall the lands. You must turn back now, return to the city, your blades will be needed there. Stay off the path, and you will return in safety."
He turned and looked at Storm, and his grim demeanor brooked no argument. He reached up and took from his neck a long metal chain, with a simple key on it, then handed it over to Storm.
"As for myself, the Bonewyrm's gaze has fallen upon me, and I must go. Tell Nichtmar and Zaron I have gone scouting, and will return soon. The key I give you is the key to Mittelmarch's library, such as it is. Within it, Nichtmar will find what he seeks."
Taos smiled slightly.
"Return my steed to his stables, and tell Nichtmar I expect that key back when I return."
With that, his smile slipped away, and Storm had a feeling that it would not return for a very long time yet. Taos looked into the woods, shouldered his gear, and disappeared into them without a backward glance.

As Taos walked away Storm saddled his horse and turned in the direction Taos walked.
"Be careful out there my friend, I would miss to be able to fight with you another day!" Storm then tied Taos' stead to his saddle and started to ride toward Mittelmarch.
Storm had ridden at a decent pace. After awhile of riding in the woods Storm was able to see the wooden walls of Mittelmarch. As he pulled up to gate of the town Storm saw a familiar horse and a not so familiar person standing ten feet away from the horse.
"Olore," Storm said as he got off his own horse. He watched as Olore stamped at the ground and then looked to the gate which he saw was a little dented. He walked up to Olore, keeping his distance of five feet. He then inspected olore and saw that he was not injured beside of a hoof he favored.
"Olore what happened to Lady Elestirne? Oh by the gods sometimes i wish i could understand horses," He shook his head in despair. Storm turned around and saw the figure. He had an eagle perched on his shoulder and a wolf at his side.
"Might I ask who you may be my kind sir?" Storm asked and bowed in a polite way.

The figure closed his eyes as if he was trying to listen to the horse. A flood of images and words filled his mind. Images of Zaron and Nichtmar appeared, and the need to get through the gate. The word Windwalker appeared in his mind, but the rest was cluter. Whatever this horse was, it was much more then something tied to this world.
The figure turned to the eagle on his shoulder, speaking his native tongue again. The eagle screeched and fly over the gate. The figure turned to the new arrival nodding his head. "My name is of no concern right now, only getting this horse inside is important. He looked at Olore and paused as the eagle came back over the gate, carrying a beakful of hair. The figure took a few strands, and held them in front of him, letting them float in front of him as he began to make the strange hand gestures again.
He disappeared ina swirl of freezing winds, leaving ice on the ground for a few moments where he stood. A few moments later, the gate opened. The figure stood there, and a drunkard layed about 30 feet back, with a very apparent bald spot.
The figure looked to the horse, "Go, I will explain things soon."

Storm looked at the stranger with discomfort because of his distrust of magic, now was not the time to think of that. He had to get Olore inside and seek out Zaron and Nichtmar.
"I thank thee stranger for you services. If you ever come by again know that Storm Brightblade owes a debt to you."
And with that he tied Taos' horse to a tree not to far from olore and rode at full speed past him into the town square and started hammering on the door to the inn. "Nichtmar! Zaron! If you're there come quickly there's trouble!"

Olore's sculpted ears swiveled as he heard a pair of hoofbeats and he turned his fine head to see Storm come into view;leading Taos's roan stallion alongside. Questions assaulted him seeing the young knight-namely wondering how the mortal came to be here and where the others of the group were. If he survived the attack, might Taos and the others have as well? As for him getting here...if he had left right after the ambush it would have taken him two days of hard riding to cover the distance I did in one of hard galloping... A hope rose in him at the knight's appearence. Once I get to Zaron and Nichtmar he'll be able to explain the attack and ambush...
As Storm called him by name Olore pricked his ears. The silver stallion nickered a little in greeting and aknowledgment as the mortal dismounted and advanced to stop five feet before him-a hint of relief in the sound. Storm.... His ears laced back momentarily and his proud head came down a little as Storm asked of his lady, but it came back up again and the silver stallion locked gazes with the knight;his intelligent eyes dark with distress and sorrow.
Pawing the ground,he snorted;indicating the ominous mountains looming over Mittelmarch as answer to the knight's inquiry;thinking his thoughts at the same time-though he knew Storm would not sense anything other than his great distress, urgency and sorrow. My lady has been taken by dark magic to the mountains young knight! I must get to Zaron and Nichtmar!
To make sure that Storm understood beyond a doubt his urgency Olore cavaled before the knight;rearing high with a ringing neigh and lashing out at the air with sharp forehooves. He came to earth-again locking gazes with Storm-then pointedly tilted his fine head towards the gate as a clear indication that he wanted the mortal to come with. He had sensed the strange one doing something, had felt the chill wind, and had heard the gates being unbarred, and so,knew beyond a doubt that the way was open to him now.
Pivoting,he saw that he was correct. The gates were wide open, and a very bald, unconsious mortal lay thirty feet beyond them. The figure stood just inside. The stallion shook his head disdainfully at all of this and laced his ears back a little as he began to walk past the figure. As he passed him,the silver stallion dipped his muzzle in the faintest of nods and again adressed his thoughts to him;locking gazes with him. You owe me answers strange one. But for the present I've far more pressing and important matters.
Kicking into a gallop,Olore sped into the town and came to a sliding stop outside the inn they had stayed at with a ringing neigh;rearing and tossing his head. Zaron! Nichtmar!,he trumpeted commandingly. Attend me AT ONCE! Looking at Storm hammering on the door, the silver stallion shook his head. Are they stone deaf or do they sleep the sleep of the dead? My noise should have woken someone long before Storm came! Mortals... Almost,Olore considered breaking down the door himself, but decided against it. Instead,he waited;pawing at the ground and tossing his mane as he continually called for Zaron and Nichtmar, occasionally loosing another trumpeting neigh. Sooner or later someone would wake and come and then he could get to Zaron and Nichtmar.

Zaron looks at Strays pausing a long moment before continuing, I can not read all of it, but I know the mark of Grisnak well enough. Now show me where you got this. At that he gets up grabbing his blade, to follow young Strays.
As Strays leads them toward the tavern Zaron picks up the feint sounds of a commotion at the gates, "Come Strays, it appears there is trouble afoot. With that he sets off in a dead run, ringing any bells along the way waking the Mittelmarch gaurd, and hoping that this is not yet more trouble.
As he approaches the gate Zaron yells out, "Who passes in the night" reading himself for anything.

Olore shook his fine head in disbelief as Zaron passed him,and young Strays. Are mortals blind as well as deaf in the early hours of the Daystar's reign?he asked himself. Well,at least our noise brought the desired person I needed. I best head them off and make my presence obvious. Leaving Storm at the inn,Olore snorted and took off after Zaron and Strays;catching them easily.
Coming in front of them just before they reached the open gate Olore placed himself squarly in their path and reared with a neigh;lashing out in frustration with his forelegs so that they would halt and take notice of him. ZARON! Though they did not hear him the force of urgency underlying his thought was plainly felt. The silver stallion ramped and reared before the two mortals, keeping direct eye contact with Zaron. Stamping the ground,Olore snorted-frustrated-and waited to be noted and aknowledged.

The heavy gallops of a shire horse make there way to the Mittelmarch gates. As the sound passes into sight, Nichtmar without armor, a bow on his back and two does draped over his lap. He sees the early meeting in the courtyard.
“Olore!?”
“Zaron what’s going on?”

Telemachus sits the glass of wine on the table beside the bed and walks towards the table lowering his hood off his head. His long white hair and his pointed Elvin ears is all that is seen as he reaches for a strawberry from the table.
“I do apologize for your abrupt removal from your company, but I did not wish you be harmed from the coming onslaught.”
He turns and his eyes close as the strawberry disappears into his mouth. His thin pale face hones on to Elestirne.
“Truly it is a shame the vial beasts that work for me will never enjoy the simple pleasures. eh…more for us.”
He grins.
“As I was saying I knew you would not voluntarily come with me, so I was thinking of your best interest. I’m sure your friends from the woods have been killed by now, even if they have not, it matters very little. Soon Karn will have set Mittelmarch a blaze, destroying their defenses for Grish’nak to clean up the remaining fodder. So you see I couldn’t let something as unique as you be destroyed…so think of this as a rescue not a kidnapping.”

Storm turns around and sees Nichtmar "Nichtmar! We have trouble, Lady Elestirne has been captured. We were ambushed as we neared the Black Door. Taos, the rest of the esscort, and I fought them off as the queen escaped. As soon as we finished off the orcs Taos gave me charge of this key and said that you would know what to do with it." Storm handed the key to Nichtmar "Taos said it was a key to the library. He also said that we went scouting and would be back soon. Can you tell me where the stable. I need to take care of his horse as well."

Olore turned his head as Nichtmar rushed up;snorting and shifting his weight. His ears went back momentarily as he sensed the taint of dark magic clinging to the ogre, but they pricked again as Storm joined him and spoke. The silver stallion neighed and nodded empathetically in agreement with the knight's words-though he experienced a brief moment of surprise that Storm had come so soon to the correct conclusion for why Olore was here and riderless. The stallion nudged the mortal briefly in silent thanks as he spoke. Yes! My lady is gone;taken by dark powers to the mountains! The dark one has her. We must set out at once! The four may not have been able to hear his thoughts, but they felt his distress and anger, and,so great was his urgency, they also saw clearly for an instant the images of the silver stallion and Elestirne racing through the forest, the dark elf and his battle with the Elven-queen,and the mountains.
Olore pawed the ground and snorted;clearly anxious. He sidled uneasily, then half-reared;the bells on his harness and bridle jingling as he tossed his head, and again as he landed back on all fours. We must go! Time is precious! He looked around a little as he waited. Where did that strange one go? He seemed able to understand me on a limited degree..he could be useful now,to roughly translate my words to these four..

Elestirne shifted her gaze from the opening to Telemacchus. Her lovely,almond-shaped silver eyes narrowed just slightly;their light bright and piercing. She weighed his words;considering them, and knew better than to take them at face value.
It was likely enough that he had not wanted her harmed, but there was another reason he had arranged for her to be taken and brought here, she knew. His use of the word 'us' had her instantly wary and on edge,as did his statement about not wanting her destroyed. She studied him cautsiously;debating whether to remain silent or speak in answer. At length, she decided for the latter.
"My 'best interest' as you put it Telemacchus,is my own to know,"she said evenly, deliberately. "Do not think to know it. You have another reason, another motive for why I am here besides not wanting me harmed. What might that be? And if this is truly a 'rescue' in your terms, and not a kidnapping why is it that I suspect you mean to keep me here until after Mittelmarch has been attacked and mayhaps beyond that, and not allow me to join my companions? Should I try to leave would I not be waylaid and prevented from doing so?
"Those are not the terms of a rescue;they are the terms of a capture and I take it to mean I am a prisoner here and meant to be kept as such-even though I am not bound or chained and you have treated me with courtesy thus far." With that, she turned calmly back to the opening and gazed out over Mittelmarch;locating with keen elven-sight had to be the town and wondering if Olore had gained entrance yet and alerted Zaron and Nichtmar... Silently,Elestirne sent her thoughts out to the Elven-horse;calling with all the will and resolve she could muster, and hoping the silver stallion heard. Olore?

“You might as well be screaming for help, your thoughts are deafening. You’re messy with your abilities. You throw your words out to Olore assuming no one can hear you…though…you are young. Perhaps with my guidance you could become more powerful.” His eyes focused on hers, “I’ve yet to meet anyone worthy of being my pupil, and though you may consider yourself strong, you have more potential than you even know.” His hands clasped behind his back, “Mending wounds, talking to your animal, these are abilities of a novice. Bending one’s will, moving objects with thought,” he pulls a hand out from behind his back, a fireball grows, “creating energy where none seems to appear. These are only a few samples of the power I can offer you.”
He shrugs, the fireball fizzles out and walks back towards the view, “Or…feel free to join them in their death or stay and I can teach you.”

Elestirne narrowed her eyes further at Telemachus's reply-but knew the first part to be bluff,or lucky guessing. No one could hear her and Olore's thoughts to one another, not even a powerful sorceror. If Olore had been a mere animal Telemachus could have heard her call to him quite easily she did not doubt. But Olore was no animal of flesh and blood, but an intelligent, mystical being of orgins she had not yet learned, even with their years together. He may appear a mere horse-if an exceptionally fine one-but he was much more and had magic and power of his own. Many times Olore had assured her that the communication and connection between them could neither be 'eavesdropped' upon, nor interfered with in any way and she trusted the silver stallion. The most Telemachus, with his magical power, might have sensed was potentionally the undercurrent of urgency. But he would not have known that she had called for Olore, though he could have guessed.
It was the second part of his reply that she had to consider. So it is even as I thought-he wants me to join him. But how quickly this one shifts! Before he offered equality and joint rulership over Mittelmarch if I accepted, now he offers power still, but equality has vanished,to be replaced by a student-master relationship. And still,it would seem, the undercurrent of flattery. Almost she smiled a little,as she caught a glimpse of the fireball. I may not be a master of magic as he is,but little does he know that I've power he does not know or guess at,and I've Olore. Magic,as with power, does not have to be obvious to be strong. The subtle and unseen can be just as effective and strong, for, instead of being loosed all at once its power is concentrated, and thus, more focused when released... Aloud she said only. "Energy is all around us,there for those whom can see and recognize it." Her voice was soft, collected. She did not turn to Telemachus but, almost reflectively,a globe of soft silver-blue light grew above her palm. "There are many different kinds of power, and ways it can be used, and paths wherein one can come by it. What makes a difference is the path one takes to power and the way he or she chooses to use it."

The figure stood there silently, watching the small group. He followed Olore's view up to the mountains.
So...that is where she is now. If I had a strand of her hair...no, it would still be too far, and there is no idea what may be around there.
The figure turned to the eagle and spoke in his native tongue.
"Ayame. I need to you scout out those mounatins, let me know f you see anything. Be careful."
The eagle screeched with acknowledgement and took off into the sky. The wolf looked up at the figure and began to bark a bit.
"Yes, things are not what they seem. Perhaps it may be time that we find out just where we are, and perhaps even tell them who we are."
The figure looked back up to the group, finally pulling his hood back. His face fully seen, appears to be of a far eastern people. His skin is pale, bordering being white as snow. His straight, jet black hair stands in contrast to his pale skin, coming down to just below his shoulders, hanging freely. His violet colored eyes stand out the most. The look in them is the look of a man that has seen many battles, and will continue to do so. He mearly watches the group.

Olore glanced back briefly at the strange one. He stood a little ways back from the group, unnoticed to all so far but the silver stallion. The Elven-horse had heard the eagle screech, and noted it was gone;flying towards the mountains, and so he surmised that the image of the mountains must have been strong in his mind and that the strange one, must have interpreted the image well enough to understand that Olore felt his lady had been taken to the mountains.
The silver stallion sidled, flattening his ears uneasily and prancing in place-each hoof coming down exactly where it had left earth. He snorted, then looked at the mortals thoughtfully for a long moment. They weren't meaning to ignore him,he was sure, but the silver stallion was tired of not being aknowledged. Snorting in frustration Olore pawed the ground;nudging Storm-who was closest-insistently and punctuating the action with a stamp of his hoof and a second snort.

Storm felt the nudge. "Olore," Storm said in surprise as he starts gently stroking the side of Olore's head, "Olore has a say in this as well. He has wanted to see you and Zaron since I have been here. He apparently need to says things of urgency because when I arrived to the gate, it was dented pretty badly which i take it from him." Storm then turned around and looked Olore face to face. "Alright Olore what happened to the queen?"

Olore snorted uneasily and thought of pulling away as Storm reached to stroke his head, but then calmed and permitted the familiarity;allowing the knight's touch for a few moments before lifting his fine head away and tossing back his mane. The bells on his bridle and harness rang softly as the silver stallion nodded his fine head and stamped a hoof;nickering. The knight's action had surprised him,but it had also calmed him a little-though he was no less anxious to make himself understood and rescue his lady.
The Elven-horse blew out his breath;shifting his weight uneasily as the young knight faced him and asked of Elestirne. The stallion's eyes darkened with sorrow and anger and his ears went back briefly. He lifted his head and nodded in the direction of the mountains. Gone... There. Taken by dark magic...by the dark one... Restlessly, the regal silver stallion shifted his weight and began to paw at the ground snorting;agitated. He half-reared and sidled uneasily;tossing his head. Worriedly,he dug a long furrow in the ground with a foreleg. She has not contacted me since she was taken...I worry for her. She was wounded in the battle with the dark elf... The stallion's concern and urgency was communicated clearly,as was his desire to get to the mountains.

Storm pondered for a moment at what Olore had done. He could see the stallion's shining eyes grow darker with distress and sorrow. Then judging by the way he moved his head, it looked as if he was pointing towards the mountains. Then by the way he pawed at the ground made it look like he was agitated at something or wanted to be somewhere. "I take it he says he wants to go to the mountains because Elestirne was taken there by someone. He says also that he needs to get there now to save Lady Elestirne."

Surprised,Olore looked at Storm. Good,I'm getting somewhere now... He nodded his head to confirm the knight's first guess, then snorted and shifted his weight. We need to get to her. I do not know what the dark one plans..and she was injured when she was taken... This thought was so strong that all recieved an image of Telemachus and a wounded Elestirne as the stallion snorted and stamped the ground urgently.
Almost as an afterthought,Olore pivoted to face the strange one, nodding to him. This one followed me...and he can understand me The stallion's sharp eyes locked gazes with the figure. The time for answers is come strange windwalker... I will not wait any longer with my lady in danger.

The figure steps forward after hearing Olore's words. He begins speaking in the "common" tongue, albeit with an accent.
"Your right, it is time for answers. My name is Tatsumura Masamune, though I have answered to many names. My companions and I hail from the Silver Phoenix Clan of Otosan Uchi. I have....been away from there for some time, while returning there, I came into a fog, and must have lost my way. I recently came through this town and was looking for a way to find out where I was. I was trying to listen to the spirits of the land when I saw your group come by us. Then, when you were attacked, I felt it as a duty to help. I managed to stop a handful of orcs that were coming from the north during the initial attack. As it seems most of you are fine, I should head on my way now. Perhaps you can point me in the direction of the Silver Phoenix lands?"
The figure looked at them as he asked this, his face calm and collected. The wolf simply looks about, sniffing the ground.

Olore snorted and stamped a hoof; dissatisfied. He was not at all content with the strange one’s answers, but he decided to let it pass for now. There would be time enough later to learn more of the one called Tatsumura. For now, the silver stallion was far more concerned with getting the others to understand that they should start to search for Elestirne, and with actually getting to and finding her. He gave Tatsumura one more look of discontent-so that the strange man would know that the stallion was neither wholly satisfied nor completely happy with the answers that had been given-then turned his attention back to the others. He shifted his weight restlessly, his sculpted ears flicking back and forth as he listened alternately to the group and the sounds of the city as it began to wake around them. His fine head however, was turned towards the mountains; eyes dark with worry as he wondered about his lady and what might be happening.
Anxiously, Olore shifted his weight again with a snort; pawing at the ground restlessly. His sharp forehoof dug a long furrow in the ground. Ferverently, he hoped that Elestirne was able to contact him soon, so that he could do something more than just simply standing here. He yearned to make for the mountains and attempt to find her on his own, but reluctantly realized that he would need the help of Zaron and the others. Blowing out his breath in a sigh he pawed at the ground again, then forced himself to remain still. Eventually, his restlessness either would be noticed or he would make himself noticed again, and then they could be on their way… He chafed at the delay though. Every moment spent talking and standing around was one lost that could be better spent looking for his lady... Impatiently, the regal silver stallion stamped a hoof insistently and snorted.
