The sun rose today like any other morning, but today the silhouette of two towers reached into the sky. Sure enough Aethenu could probably see them on a clear day. There had been a new arrival to the land and not just a person, it would seem yet another civilization has traveled and morphed into our world. I had to know who they were.
I’m not sure if this is good or not, but the new arrivals were only a couple days walk through some of the easier terrain of the Iron Mountains. As I turned the corner to see the structure I was amazed by its incredible size, surely it must have been eight times the size of Mittelmarch. It had a high main castle in the back and a few buildings peered over its massive walls. Guards marched along the walls and manned the towers. At that moment I feared if these people were to become our enemy. As I got closer I could see the lowered draw bridge that hung over a spiked watery mote. A brigade, wearing crimson armor, came out to greet me.
“I am General Gilad Shatar. Welcome to what we hope to be our temporary home.”
I nodded, “Well I hope that I, Helvaryn of Mittelmarch, can be of any assistance your people may need.”
“We are led by Emperor Dracus Thrawn. We have been ordered to not accept assistance from any outside help…”
“I assure you we mean no harm and...”
“Your concern is respected, but I ask that you honor our wishes. We pray to Jupiter that he will guide us from this place. No offense. We had just ended a campaign, destroying the last of the horde in our home land, now Jupiter brings us here!?”
“I am sorry…”
“I’ve also been told to warn you, do not bring any army to our door, we will take grave insult and I promise we are far superior in combat.”
General Shatar seemed very nervous. I felt his stare on my ears, he hasn’t seen Elves before, probably nor dwarves, orcs or any other beings than humans. This is dangerous I fear.
I knew I had to leave soon but I had to ask, “That symbol, what does it mean?”
General Shatar was shocked I didn’t know.
“It is the sign of our God, Jupiter. The God of All Gods. The Symbol of the Jovian Empire. Now please leave and spread the warning I gave you.”
I left for Mittelmarch without hesitation.
