mostly that we just don't have enough local events in a year to invite the press

I've been thinking a good bit about this lately. Who to contact, or if anyone even needs to be contacted. For those of you that don't know, I'm a producer for a number of PBS shows in one of my many alternate lives. I don't just produce either... I shoot, edit, mix, and do just about everything else involved. I did this piece that aired on all eight PBS stations in the state on Humans Vs. Zombies. I also produced, edited, and partially shot this piece that aired on two different shows... that always makes me chuckle a bit whey they double dip. I have a package that's almost to my liking on the glass program at Anderson University ... oh, and I find out Thursday if I've been nominated for an Emmy for this package I put together about a local art show with a destructive twist... and I even got the rights to use a Metallica song... suck it Hetfield! But... I digress... I've been thinking about producing a package like these on the local Dag scene. Much like when the Naptown Rollergirls got started, nobody seems to know about Dag... even those in the community who seem like they should know. Maybe putting together a piece like this for a couple or three PBS shows will help encourage more people to come out and give Dag a try. Any thoughts?

Radio DJ's while not members of the press per say Rojji have the right to say anything they want about any activities they participate in. What Happens if the person we invite for instance doesn't find dag a fun game, and instead thinks it is the stupidest thing they have ever done. Said person will talk about it maybe, but in a negative manner, and we have no control over what is being presented. To be honest we would be better off going with the news media if we are going to invite someone, as they would not put their opinion in the piece, and just present the facts.
Spoons this actually sounds like a great idea

or we could get a commercial on radio or tv and if we don't have enough money from memberships we could have a collection.

well no actually Stubbie, but i do believe they would not simply say for instance "I tried this and it was the stupidest thing I have ever done"
Rojji if you have the several thousand dollars that would take dude feel free to do it, but the realm will not pay for that in any way shape or form

Inviting a DJ or a morning news show won't get them to show up and broadcast live or anything like it. Begging and offering them sex won't get them either. Becoming a regular advertiser will, however, get them to show up pretty quickly.
As for advertising costs, it's not really as high as you think... at least not for Comcast, on the channels we would want to target (Cartoon, SciFi, G4, Spike, Comedy Central) at the hours we would want to target (late night). When last I looked, which was some time ago, Comcast allowed you to buy individual ads to run in individual sections of town. On the channels and times above you could get an spot for "Westside/Speedway" for about $15 per impression.... I recall this from when I was in negotiations with the west side dork store to produce an ad for them and then they realized they were just this side of bankrupt. Bastards, I had an epic mess of a commercial all ready to roll too.
Honestly, if you want to advertise to your core audience, the way to do it is to go into the various dork stores around town, let them know that they can get weapons from E. Armory (or us, if we know someone who is willing to make them) and that you're more than willing to host a couple of fighting demos and a couple of classes for free to generate interest in people coming out and playing. Combine that with a couple of well-timed events, an appearance or two on various PBS shows around the state... maybe an ad or two and you're as set as you can be for the shoestring budget you've got.
The trick with the stores, though, is you need to act now... like... a two months ago now.

uggh Dork stores.... I honestly considered putting up a homemade dag poster up at the one close to me. They actually have a few foam weapons for sale so I figured they wouldn't care I give them something to put up for Kanthea.

Hey I am making some brochures, posters, and hand outs. And i need some pecifice pictures.
I need a good quality of a battle that is about the size of a paper but landscape. A regular sized picture of someone in garb swinging at the camera. A guy or girl in a cool pose. Some wicked sick pictures for the poster. A picture of some well constructed weapon(s). A picture of a feast. Pictures of two peope fighting, in one picture their swords are clashign, and in the second they are preparing to strike. Pretty much anything that you would put in a brochure.
I also need paragraphs, quotes and ideas.
