I have two questions I am going to make some swords and I am going to buy some from Sanjuro-dono, but he don't do stabby tips and I dont know if i can do it either. If i finish my swords and buy the two, could someone perform surgery on them to make them stabby. If so just tell me when i need to stop in the contruction process on my sword. My second question is how do i do one-sided swords? Do I just do one bend around of the three strips? Then use the other two only for the front? So it would look like this: red, yellow, and green are the different layers of foam and green is pvc. Ignore pink.

I'd just like to say your better off making the end of your weapon rounded, or at least squarish, as a stabby end must not fit more than .5" into a 2.5" hole. Thus your "pointy" design there would be gargantuan wide to obey this. But hey do what suits ya, with-in the rules ^_^. To aid this, some links to various stab tip tutorials, all off the National dag boards: Alric's: www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=5450.0Magnus's: www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=14029.0Guntar's: dagorhir.com/HowTo/GvK_thrusting_tip_design_November_2008.pdfAlso the normal way: make your sword as you normally would. At your 2nd wrap of foam place (spray glue) ~1.5" of open cell foam at the tip, put athletic tape along the bottom 1/2" of OC, where it meets the closed cell foam, over lapping onto the closed cell. Then put your final wrap of closed cell foam over. However this often leads to a...phallic looking sword.

single edges is usually done like that, but wrap that last layer around 2 layers of blue foam. and yes, that is ONE of the many, MANY ways to do green tips.

No man, you'd want 2 layers of foam on that back side, between incidental contactee's face and your core. So extend that blue or yellow circle layer on over the back, under the red.

if going by color, then wrap your blue and yellow layers like a normal sword, then the red layer last.

A: i would take that red layer a little further around, for stability sake.
B: not quite, depending on how you make the tip will depend on how you contruct the sword. just remember to be a legal strike surface on a single sided blade it must be at least 2 inches across the flat of the blade, and you'll still want 3 layers of foam on the striking side and at least 2 on the non-striking side.
