But he's a short smelly dwarf... we dont need any more of those hanging around mittelmarch then neccesary. Id say let him live, but make him fix that hole in our wall, isnt that what their good for anyways, fixin stuff?

Upon my rescue from Jove and the clutches of R'tiir I return to my city to find that some of the horrible things that R'tiir has said about my land is true. Most painful is that my most trusted general, my good friend, my own brother, has done the unthinkable. He has turned, betrayed me. Such a terrible offense as betrayal to Mittelmarch, to be a traitor, should carry an equally terrible fate. Death...but something so final, something so shameful, this shall not fall to one that I have come to love. I cannot, will not, have my own brother beheaded.

I know these cries for blood all too well. Long ago, I rebelled against the legions of heaven, I betrayed friends and family so that I could take the throne of God, only to fail and be banished to earth. In the centuries I was banished, I first felt contempt, then regret. That regret fueled repentance. While I could never be restored I returned to the path righteousness.
I may not be a citizen of Mittelmarch, but take wisdom from my past. He may hate for a time, may even plot revenge, but given the chance to reflect on his past mistakes, he could repent. Justice must be dealt, so send him away. Isolate him from Mittelmarch and the Jovians, let nothing but your mercy sway his decision. If he returns restored, welcome him as brother, if he returns with sword, slay him with yours.

He has betrayed all of Mittelmarch, and his betrayal brings dishonor to himself and his family. The only way to cleanse such dishonor would be seppuku. With saying that, one of seven tents of bushido is compassion. I believe if he is truly sorry for his betrayal of Mittelmarch, we should show compassion on him, and allow him a chance to show his sorrow and serve Mittelmarch once again.

Shave his beard.
Change his name to Lawn Gnome.
For one month he would be required to dance like a fairy princess when ever someone requests it....
You get the idea.
