Hey Mittelmarch. My name is mordok.
I'm not new to dag, I've been a fighter in vegas for the passed four years or so. Anywho, I'm moving out to Indianapolis mid January and wanted to introduce myself. Wanted to see if there were any house rules or tips I should know when I first come out, would rather be well equipped in this land between lands.
So you know, I'm from Barad'dun. I am part of the group The Black Lions. I am Barad'dun's only gnome, I know how to work with leather and foam. Barad'dun is also one of the dag/bel realms ( i assumed you guys were too, the home page made it seem so) so I'm accustomed to those rules (although partially too).
I look forward to meeting you all, you seem warm and welcoming, and am excited to fight a group of people I'm not used to fighting with.
If you'd like to know anything else about me (mordy for short) please feel free to ask. And if you'd like to share anything about yourselves (to what ever length) please post here (if that's alright) as I'd love to read more about any of you.
Thanks for reading and thank you for your time :]

Welcome Mordok!
Well as far as house rules those can actually be found on the website (sorry to sound like an ass, I just don't actually know them off hand) In January the realm will be on hiatus from fighting for the winter, though let us know when you get in town, and we can probably get together on a good day somewhere to meet you.
Lets see little about our realm, Mittelmarch is part of loose confederation(see the word friendship) of the Indiana realms, mostly used for role playing these days called the land between the lands. We are a small close knit realm, but we are welcoming to everybody. Units tend to be spread from all across the state so there are any number of units, but the two biggest contingents we have right now are the Legion of the Dragoons, and the Defenders of the Land. Officially we are strictly a dag realm, unofficially we hate politics so we just go with, are you a fighter? do you have passing gear? ok come play. It's not unusual for us to have small practices, 4-25 usually around 10, but for events we tend to pull between 100-300 depending on the event. The Olympics for the past three years has drawn over 300, and this years WAR was over 200, those are our two big ones, with smaller events sporadically though out the year drawing 50-100
Hmm about me, Well I have been fighting for 6 years now I think. I am a Dragoon, and currently sit on the high council of MM. Umm yeah so I am rather boring, has anybody else noticed this?
Anyway I am pretty sure I speak for all of us when I say welcome.

For sure!
My only question is, why are you moving to Indy in January from Vegas? Don't you know it's cold and snowy here? As a gnome, you should be aware of this... You might get buried and lost in the snow.
Look forward to meeting/fighting you!

Just happens to be where the wind is blowing. As for getting buried in the snow, I'm not too worried. I should have plenty to keep me warm.
I'm a little bummed that January is a hiatus month... how long does this absence last? I really love to just get out and practice so when I do get out there, I'll probably be inviting people to come out and chill (<----its a pun) with me and do some light training. Just a good way of keeping that muscle memory up.

Oh, and since I've never played in the snow and it might be something I'll be doing regularly... What are the rules for snowballs? Or is it just something there aren't any regulations for?
I'd hate to get all giddy over snowball fights only to be looked at silly ;D

Glad for another new face. Welcome. As long as folks want to come or call a practice you might get people out on a Saturday. It just gets too dark too early for our afternoon practices in the winter months. Snow is good. What side of town are you on?

I think the place I'll be staying at is on the more western part... I was told it would be a fifteen minute drive. I think she even said near the speedway or whatever... Indianapolis is completely new territory for me, I've never been more east than Idaho >.>
Is Holiday Park an amusement park? I asked the landlord how close it was and she was like "the amusement park?

Well if it's the speedway area then yeah it is on the west side. Holiday Park is actually a city park on the north side of Indianapolis. Between 15 -20 min driving.
Interesting fun fact about our fair city, the speedway is contained in the town of speedway, completely surrounded by the city, but itself an independent town, so technically if you are living in speedway you are not living in Indy...yeah I don't get it either, but there ya go

Cool fact Oof and Brightblade; very awesome. Here in Vegas we have so many of our fighters all around the valley. Sometimes as far as forty to fifty minutes out. I live like right across the street from our practice site so I was never the guy who's like "hey, I know I'm inconveniently out of the way but.... could you pick me up dude?" As soon as I got my driver's license here I was the guy doing the driving >.<
