While very new to dagorhir, I can see from videos of battles that individual battle prowess can be secondary to group tactics in terms of what can win a battle. Many tactics can be taken from real war on the battlefield such as:
Fight with the sun to your back to blind the enemy.
Attacking from multiple fronts can destroy formations and lead to victory against greater numbers.
Attaining higher ground allows for better vantage and ability for archers to aim for exposed warriors. Also aids use of the sun.
what are your opinions or experiences with group tactics and how they can play a roll in a battle?

Some groups in Dag like to use tactics but most just like to pound and ground and just wreck stuff. I know my goal if im on the sides is to turn the people for flankers but truthfully i just love to run into stuff and hit stuff.

Small battles like 5v5 and smaller group tactics dont really come up as much. Id say anything bigger and it can make a real difference. Even a shield line is a tactic, if people on a team form up an organized line of shields it makes a difference. This can happen naturally but sometimes it does not and you have a few shields here and there and a everything in between.
I would say a basic tactic people in groups should work on is a shield line, with pole arms between, flankers (Florentine and fast shieldman) on the sides, with archers behind on at angles to any approaching group. From there its knowing when to break off chunks to either flank or deal with flankers. Archers can work with polarms to open up holes in a shield line. All of this requires a group effort.

Tactics play a huge role in any fight be it 5 v 5 to 1000 v 1000, the difference is that on the smaller battles the tactics are significantly different, in a small battle the tactic might be something as simple as find a person to fight with and cover his butt as much as you can, but this can turn a tide when it's two vs 5 if the five don't work together the two who do can win, even when they shouldn't. I'm not as much of a fan of using the sun to your advantage, mostly because i hate when people do it to me so i don't do it to them. High ground advantage is a a bit odd because most fighting fields are level so it's a moot point but placement of personnel, or units can give a huge advantage to one group. IMO the fist tactic everyone should work on is simply fighting with a partner, being where you can cover them without getting in their way, and where they can cover you. Always remember a good/great fighter can probably beat you one on one, but i don't care how good he/she is they cannot beat you 6 on one.

Running back and forth from a rez-point to fight alone makes little impact on a battle. Rezing and waiting on your unit to work together, there's nothing more satisfying at an event.
