I work at the Sears shoe department in Greenwood and I noticed that over in our tool department near the men's bathroom, we are selling packages of 6 of 2'x2' EVA floor paneling for 19.99. They are multicolored, half and inch thick, and have some texture on one side of each panel.
On certain sundays we have what's called friends and family events where from 6-9pm everything in each department is a certain percentage off. In the tool department, it is 10% I believe; which would bring it down to 17.99. For a better deal, if you work for Sears/kmart/lands end you can get an additional 10% off. The grand total would be about 16 bucks.
Compared to blue camp foam at Walmart which I think is 8 bucks for about 14 square feet of foam, you can get 24 square feet of EVA foam for 16 bucks.
Pros: Better quality foam, almost same amount of foam per dollar. Cons: Broken into 2x2 pieces, texture on one side of panels.

Most floor mats are 4# whereas blue foam is like 2.2# (i think) harbor freight sells 4# mats for cheaper than this but they are only good for the base layer and would not pass as a striking layer.... That said if this is indeed 2# foam it would probably be a great deal I don't know for sure...

It's just how dense it is. Denser foam will give less making hit harder and possibly failing hit test.

One of the packages had a tear and I tried squishing it. It is pretty dense.

Osric pretty much summed it up... 4# is more dense which makes it alot more unforgiving and would easily bruise someone on a hit test
