"Engineers are reminded that friendly fire isn’t friendly at all and they should avoid shooting friendly troops in the back." Quote from the SCA rules on Seige Engines.

Anyone who's not smart enough to figure that out on his own should NOT be building siege weapons.

Hey, I knew a guy in college that was artillery in the US military, and one of his favorite statement was acceptable losses.

Speaking of seige engines... I Foust and I built a Catapult for his physics class... With a few new springs... or a few new bungy cords (the original ones where not elastic enough) we could have a 5 foot catapult for Rag. We change the basket to hold a large number of "rocks" and it could be effective in thinning a large opposing force. What say dragoons? worth it?

I likewise am planning to build a ballista this summer for launching javelins if I have the spare time. It would be for practices for a while first so I could figure out the right weight and everything.

It would be neat to have in camp ;D, but unfotunatly they won't let it on the field.

neither, I'm sure. If I get my ballista built I'll take it to a practice or hold a practice in my HUGE backyard sometime

Unfortunatly he is correct neither is allowed, although there has been talk of seige weapon rules forever.

It's not us, but the war council. I would personally love to see rules set up for the national field, but seeing as they've discussed them forever I'm not holding out any great hope of it being soon.
If we wish to setup something safe for some rp battles of our own though. I would definatly be up for that. We just have to remember, safety comes first.
