Hi all, a few of us are going to try something new for our area.
Art and Science Guild
PURPOSE: to ensure and encourage the learning of skills related to medieval times and the Dagorhir culture
ORGANIZATION: a central body of Masters to help -
1) bring people together who want to learn and match them to people who have the skills and desire to teach
2) centralize knowledge of historic skills and techniques
3) promote fidelity within the Dagorhir community
4) promote the total medieval experience at Dag events
5) possibly provide outlet for mass marketing of goods
LEVELS
Apprentice -nuff said
Journeyman - a practitioner in a craft who can consistently produce an item of high quality in their field of study
Master - a practitioner in a craft who consistently produces an items of the highest quality in their field of study and teaches others the craft
As far as research goes that will have to be worked out and let's face it the SCA has made it into an art form as far as doing a lot of research and training. We might find someone familiar with this society to help us get started.
So far I have come up with the following arts, and we all know this is in no way all inclusive.
Cloth (embroidery, sewing, weaving, knitting, crochet, needle point)
Foam smiting (weapons, shields)
Leather working (costuming, armor, tanning)
Metal working (Real weapons, armor, blacksmithing, jewelry)
Bards (singing, story telling, juggling)
Heralds ( safety, rules, teaching)
Fire-crafters (nuff said)
Wood workers (furniture, feast ware, sign-age)
Artist (artist in paint, ink, sculpture)
Chefs (cooking, feast planners, camp chefs)
Scribe (the use of quill and ink, calligraphy)
Falconry
Heraldry
