I'm wanting to make a small flail and a buckler, and I had a couple questions, if anybody who knows and/or understands the rules better than me can answer them I'd be much appreciative.
Flails:
Does the handle have to be 12" from above the grip to the tip?
Can flails also be clubs?
And would 1 1/4" schedule 80 cpvc be a bad idea for the core?
Bucklers:
What exactly does "The minimum dimension on the face of a shield is 12 inches." mean?
Is it that it has to be 12 sq. in. ?
Or does it have to be 12"x12"?
Or what?
I'm not all that good at turning rules into specs, so if anybody could help me out I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Daemon Loki

Flails:
Does the handle have to be 12" from above the grip to the tip? You can make a flail like that of a Single Blue Sword with a 36" blade, but the head and the handle have a 6" chain separation, and then the actual handle can still be that of a single Blue. Hope that helps.
Can flails also be clubs? Nope sorry, less someone can prove me wrong, I have yet to see someone use a flail as a club.
And would 1 1/4" schedule 80 cpvc be a bad idea for the core? It should I used 1 1/2". So it should.
Bucklers:
Is it that it has to be 12 sq. in. ? This is not Or does it have to be 12"x12"? This is True
Hope it helps. Althuzad

...umm...just to clarify, because I'm easily confused...
Does the space between the top of the handgrip and the bottom of the chain have to measure 12"?

Where you hold onto the flail, there is a 12" area to hold it, then after that its handle....then its the chain, and then the head of the flail.
Hope it helps'

It must be 12" from the bottom of the pommel to the end of top of the flail head. The 2/3 length of padding includes the flail head, the foam dinlges on the chain, and the haft padding and pommel. 1 1/2" pvc should me more than sufficient. Flails can't be clubs. Any surface of the face of the shield can't be smaller than 12". The smallest shield you can make is a 12" diameter round shield.
