Hey i've been wasting a lot of time searching on-line for garb to buy with little success so help me out.
Last year for the Olympics I shelled out some big bucks to buy garb from Museum Replicas.
This garb lasted me about 5 minutes before most of it was shredded and destroyed = lesson learned there.
I want garb that I can fight in, that will last me at least 6 months and that I can wash periodically so I don't smell like a sty.
Also I want something light, i'm not going to go full armor as I sweat bad enough as it is...
So any suggestions or people you can refer me to would be appreciated.
oh yeah, guess I need shoes too.
So in Sum: I need garb, armor and shoes.
most important to me is: Useablity, Durability, washablity, functionablity (i'd rather not spend an hour or two getting into and out of it as this would cut into my fighting time which is what I want to do the most).
please help,
Thanks,
Rook.

What kind of footwear do you want? You can go barefoot, wear leather sandals, or just throw on some dark tennis shoes or boots.

I was already working on a short sleeve tunic for you in a light weight grey material. I am just making it the size of Zarons largest one. This would give you room to move and fight and not bust it out. People normally buy tunics that fit perfectly, but dont consider fighting movements in them..so larger is better. You can always get a belt to tighten it if it's too loose for you.
Pants: We go to ewither the scrub shops or walmarts scrub clothes area. You can get a pair of black scrub pants for like $15. When you buy the pants online that pretty much what they are.
Shoes: Z found at walmart a pair of brown slip on..tennis shoe looking without the strings. They were really popular..you can find them anywhere for like $15+

Are going to go eastern more or western more? Because there are different styles for each (Though you dont seem the type to fight in a skirt i must say)

Good advice. Thanks,
I'll try to go to Walmart and buy some of those shoes and pants.
I've used several of those cheap pajama pants but I tear through them .
I lunge too much and "ahem" there isn't much give in the crotch a
area...
But if black tennis shoes work i'll try to special order some. (I need ankle suport after several bad sprains over the years and I have duck feet that are too wide for most cheap shoes...)
So I think that rules out bare feet and sandals. I'd prefer moccosins but again I need the ankle reinforcement.
As far as style, I don't have any. I let my wife dress me. My skills are all martial...
So mostly I just go for comfort and utility.
Thanks for the advice.

Gi or kung fu pants will work as well and are hard to rip if you have any in black laying around.

Yeah I've recently switched to cheap cargo pants from walmart. Since I normally wear a tabbard that covers the pockets enough. and they are loose. Cool Ebay store myworld.ebay.com/speedystitches

Given your look and fighting style, I would think that a judo/grappling gi, perhaps in dark blue, and hakamas would be the way to go. Short tabis or ankle high mocs are not out of the question, simply wear neoprene ankle supports inside of them. Perhaps even orthotics (arch support, heel cushions, etc) if needed. I think you could easily pull off an eastern look, and would make a fine example of a wandering yojimbo.

Zalos, I have a local martial arts supply place a few blocks from my home, that offer some exceptional deals as they are a small momma-san and poppa-san store. There are tons of sites on-line that one can purchase decent martial arts equipment/clothing from. Most notably, and likely the highest priced is Century Martial Arts Supply. I have a personal preference for the dark blue gi common to kendo, over the brighter blue that has become popular in judo over the last few years. If you are looking for ideas for a particular look, I recomend googling for an image, and see what turns up. Something like Google: Samurai gif. That will yield pics like: Basic dark gi, and hakama as aforementioned, or this . or Hope that helps, both of you...

Sorry it's taken me a bit to respond to the last bunches of good ideas...I'm getting a little crazy with lack of sleep due to the new warrior in the family.
Bishop = I'm 5'8"
Oron = good ideas on the Gi. I actually have several different types of Gi but they aren't much to look at as I didn't buy em for show. I may have to look up some of those Hakami pants you suggested.
Zalos etc... you can buy martial arts gear of high quality from Century Martial Arts. It is a bit expensive though they guarantee everything they sell. (and the stuff of theirs that I have broken they have replaced for free).
