So, I was wondering, since in my perusing of the forums I haven't found anything, if I could make a felted tunic/tabard, umm whatever that big long piece of cloth is. I would do this by knitting it and then hand felting it. Just wondering, as I have some yarn that is an awesome color and has just been laying around, lol. I mean, I've read and re-read everything in the rules about 'the novice' and 'the verteran' and all that, but I hadn't seen anything about knitting. Anyone know anything? Thanks, as always, for the help. I'd also like to know about knitting in general, please. ~Azmy

knitting is period. the novice and veteran things aren't rules at all, just guidelines. basically, any clothing that is period should be fine. disadvantage to felting and knitting is that both will be really hot to wear for any amount of time and anything knit has the potential to be itchy depending on the yarn material. it also takes a considerable amount of time and skill. the ambition is excellent, but you may want to start with something easier like a t-tunic and work your way up unless you have a lot of practice. good luck

Oh, don't worry. I'm not starting with this. It will take quite some time to finish, after all. My mom offered to write a pattern for me and I already have the yarn and yes, I know how to knit. I was thinking, depending upon how it turns out, that it will be more like feasting garb than fighting garb. Maybe. Anyways, you have no idea how easily cold I get, lol. So if it gets cooler in the evenings, I thought this would be good for me.

Sounds like a heck of a lot of work. But have fun... it will be unique. No doubt.
