Does MM have an emergency action plan for the O's in case something happens? (ie. heart attack, stroke, broken bones). They kept going on and on about them in first aid and lifeguard training. Or is the plan more along the lines of "Sui gives CPR while the field crowds around and watches Oof call 911"? Not a big deal, just wondering.

Wow! I love this idea, I've always been fascinated by farming, but I make my RP living off of woodcutting, its a man's work and lets face it, cities need firewood, lots of firewood.(Given its horribly inefficient but that's the dark ages for ya). Maybe I should consider starting a small field of something....all that food has gotta come from somewhere!

Suihaden sat in the infirmary, a quill in held idly in his hand as he stared at a piece of parchment. His wounds pained him less and he knew he was on the road to recovery. In a few days he would be able to walk, and in the last few days he had pondered his situation long.
These Jovians were not all evil, just ruthlessly pragmatic, kind at need. Why did he oppose them? He glanced down at the letter in his hand. It was addressed to Captain Kain and read thus:
"In this year of our Lord 1120, the 22nd of December
Honorable Sir,
I am deeply grateful for the timely aid I received at your hands, without which I most certainly would have died. My treatment here has been honorable and fully in accordance with the laws of chivalry which brings you and your liege lord great credit. My deepest thanks.
As you must know in a few days I will be healed of my wounds, thanks to your aid and my friend's medicine. I understand when I have healed a decision will be made concerning my fate, and that a position will be granted in your army or in any capacity if I will renounce my loyalty to King Isen of Mittelmarch. Though I am humbly grateful for your generosity, this I cannot do. As a citizen of Mittelmarch I owe my liege lord loyalty until he is dethroned by due process of law. Until the high council of Mittelmarch declares him Rex Nihilo or he is proven to me to have broken his oath of protection I cannot serve under you banner or acknowledge your kingship of Mittelmarch. I also cannot forget the blood of my brothers of the order, who were ruthlessly cut down by your men. Their blood cries out, and though I can forgive, I cannot forget.
Therefore I ask you to deal with me as you see fit, but know I will not serve your emperor. I do not fear death, for I have seen the gates of heaven.
Humbly yours,
Suihaden de Percy,
nephew of Earl de Percy, Cousin twice removed of his Royal Majesty Richard the First, Novitiate of The Order of Saint John, subject of the sovereign realm of Mittelmarch."
Silently he folded the letter, addressed it and handed it to a nearby guard. Laying back down he uttered a silent prayer for his friend Zigler, doubtless alone and in the freezing weather.
(OOC) I just noticed this but I left my sword at my cave, so I only had a staff when you captured me.

The stirring of leaves announced the presence of another being. Sui whipped around, holding his staff in the guard position, his legs did not turn with him however, and he fell on his back. Franticly he struggled to his knees and looked for the attacker. A quick look relieved his fears.
"Zig! I'm so glad to see you. Are you alright? Wounded?"
Together the two sat and Sui listened in silence to his fellow Mittelmarcher's story. As was all it was filled with death, horror, anger and confusion. But, the reoccurring theme, why were we fighting the Jovians? That was the question.
Slowly Sui's eyes drifted toward Mittelmarch, tears blurred in his eyes as he faintly made out through the mists of gangrene clouding his senses the Jovian flag. This town meant so much, its people had been so friendly, so willing to take in the wandering and help them. Nichtmar, Zaron, Beathor, Kotaro and others, they were all gone. One way or another.
It would take something soon to revive the dying embers of his body. Something now.

The next morning Sui woke, the weakness in his body told him time was running out. Abandoning his weapons and using a staff he set off through the woods.
Quickly, Sui realized how weak he really was. A walk that would have been thoughtless a few days ago was agonizing effort. His wounds no longer pained him as much, they just oozed as the deadly infection marched on, rotting his body.
As he staggered on, he thought over his short life. What had he lived for, and what would remain when he died.
"For me to live is Christ, and die gain."
His purpose, and desire was to bring glory to God by his life. Had he made the right choice? Did it bring God glory, did it obey God's law to fight the Jovians? His mind drifted back to Jovian arrows hissing into the bodies of the wounded, the dying face of Maynard, the proud Shatar. He had made the right choice. To side with such ruthless, pragmatic murderers was to destroy his testimony forever.
Slowly, the woods parted and his thoughts died in dismay. In his delirium, he had walked a full circle.
In front of him, was Mittelmarch.
(OOC) Wow, my post really took off quick.

Sweat trickled into Suihaden's eyes as he ran through the woods. Every muscle in his body burned and the wounds in his back and shoulder throbbed with unspeakable pain. At last he staggered into a small clearing next to a hill.
In the side of the hill was a small cave, blocked off by a rude palisade with a gate. Inside were the few tools and possessions Sui owned, and the wood he split for his living.
Pushing open the gate, Sui looked into the cave. All looked well.
"The thieves guild hasn't found my place yet it looks, or Jovians."
A few minutes later he had a fire lit, and was changed into a plain, brown robe. Wincing in pain he applied salve to his wounds he could reach. Feeling for the wound in his back he scented a noxious smell.
"Oh, no"
Gangrene, the curse of all wounds had set in. Without help, he would die in a matter of days. Unable to reach the wound in his back his medical skill was useless. Cupping his hands under his chin he stared into the dancing flames. He could surrender to the Jovians and get help, but no, they were killers, foes of freedom and God's Law. He could try and make it to Dunland but he doubted he had the strength to go through the mountains. His best choice was to try to make it to the Shogunate, hopefully they would still be unconquered and not traitorous.
Slowly sleep overtook the novitiates tired body and the brown clad figure lay still and resting by the fire.
In his dreams figures swirled, his rescue from the camp, the battle at the gate, fighting in the town, then fleeing in the woods. And slowly overwhelming all was Beathor's face as he clashed swords with him.
"It is useless to resist......give in to the inevitable Sui."
Give in, or resist. The choice is yours.
(OOC) This is a thread to post your characters story if you are fleeing from the Jovians or if you want to add plot to my story. ie if you are jovians hunting me.

Sui craned his neck and looked at the roof of the hut.
"Mountjoy!" he exulted; the roof was made of thatch!
"Nichtmar, can you give a boost up to the ceiling? I think I can find a way out."
Balancing himself on Nichtmar's broad shoulders, Sui grabbed onto on of the rough hewn rafters and hauled himself up. Every tired muscle in his body ached with the strain, but gritting his teeth he pushed himself into the thatch.
After a few minutes of burrowing into the thatch he poked his head out cautiously into the afternoon sun. Around him was a camp filled with red armored soldiers and the hut was surrounded by sentries.
"Guess I'll have to wait till dark."

At Taos's remark the tingle that went up Sui's backbone at the mention of torture was overwhelmed by the wave of resentment at the elf's arrogance.
"17 years may be a short while to you sir, but I have learned in a hard school. In the desert we Christians have learned to disappoint the moslem in the horrors of torture."
Sui was about to continue when the slammed open. The red clad Jovian smashed Nichtmar, ignored Sui and dragged off Taos. After he left, Sui pieced Nichtmar's teeth back into his mouth ramming each one sharply.
"They will heal in we keep them in their sockets." He explained.
Sui looked around, he was angry, very angry, disdained and slighted he felt like he wanted to hit something.
"Why can't I be better than I am, must I be always trodden under foot like a worthless animal?"

At the elf's haughty manner Sui's quick temper flared, he was about to reply with an angry retort when he remembered the words of the Bible. "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." Shamed by his pridefull response Sui grasped the knife in his teeth and placed the point at the knot that bound his hands. Bending his head forward he pressed the blade against the hemp. He winced as the sharp knife cut into his hand then sliced through the rope. Rubbing his hands together he restored circulation to them and then proceeded to cut Taos’s and Nichtmar’s bonds

Hearing Nichtmars voice; Sui roused from his reverie. Looking around, he examined the hut. It was built solidly of wooden timbers and had a thick oaken door blocking the only. His tabbard was in tatters and his mail slashed in many places and a bandage was on his back. The ropes that were the only reward of his struggles with his captors rubbed raw on his wrists. Sui lifted his hands to his mouth and bit savagely down, tearing off a small strand of hemp. Grimacing at the taste, he continued his gnawing. Between bites he talked, "Just a littile more chewing..mmmphh....and I'll get these...grrrmph....ropes off...rmmph....then we can....mmphgr.... find a way...gmmphh... out."

(OOC) Thought I'd try a little character development
As Sui lay on the dirt floor his thoughts drifted back many years to a time faintly etched in his memory. He had only been seven years old at the time, but now he remembered it like yesterday.
Dawn's light shone across the Western marches of England ten years ago revealing a battle that had raged for many a night hour. Smoke billowed from the beleaguered castle. Closer observation revealed a small group of maill clad men fighting desperately to hold the tall, proud keep against masses of Welsh hillmen. The bodies scattered thickly attested to the fierceness of the assault and to the desperation of the defenders. Inside a small boy listened to the strife as the defenders were driven back. Suddenly the door burst open and his father stepped in smeared with blood. Giving his son a farewell smile he held the door against the foe for a while, then fell, a javelin through his body. The vision ended. He knew the ending.
Sui was carried off, and raised as a shepherd among the Welsh hillmen, until his discovery by a patrolling knight. Now he was in a strange world, his life hanging by a slender thread. What new twist of fate would come now?

Foggily noise flooded into Suihaden's mind, disjointed sounds and a rough shaking. With a snap, his blue-grey eyes flew open and life flowed in the young hospitaller's veins. Sui felt dissapointed, "I was so close, I could've been with Jesus!" instead, he was back to a life of chaos and agony.
Shaking with pain he stood up and looked. Around him a brutal combat raged, the Jovians clearly with the upper hand. A few survivors were being dragged away by the crimson clad soldiers. Nichtmar lay crumpled nearby, bleeding from a ugly wound.
Pale as death from blood loss, Sui drew his sword. The two edged Toledo steel blade felt heavy in his grasp as he stood over the ogre. Maybe he could still reach Heaven today. But God had willed it otherwise.
A Jovian sensing an easy victory charged him and swung. Sui blocked the blow and lunged, but his sword glanced off the armor. The soldier rained blow after blow, each unflinchingly blocked. Sui struck low and had to leap back to avoid being halved by his opponents blade. As the sword descended he swung, in a perfect shot his sword clove the Jovian’s sword-hand from his body. Following up Suihaden hit right over the gorget and severed his opponents head. A few more soldiers advanced to fight, but another, pompous with new authority shouted, “Seize him, the commander wants them alive.” “You’ll never take me alive!” Sui shouted hoarsely back. Six men surrounded him, each hesitating to be the first. “GO FOOLS!” the new lieutenant yelled. Simultaneously, they dogpiled the hospitaller, wrenched his sword from his grasp and dragged him away.

(OOC) I'n this setting I do not think this is scriptural, or theologicily correct. But, for the sake of the story, I'm gonna do it. You can reference the book of Revalation for this description.
As his sight and senses faded Sui felt felt another sense growing, a feeling of wonder and unspeakable joy. Suddenly, before him appeared a city, shining like the sun. It's walls were massive, extending up as as far as the eye could see and made of shinning diamonds. In front of him was a gate, made all of pearl and gold and around were a small crowd of people, people he knew. Maynard, Millard, the old priest from the Monastary of Torquilstone and several tall, shining men. Sui advanced up to the gate, inside he saw a city, with houses of unimaginable beauty, streets of the purest gold and filled with brilliant light. But the feeling freedom, of peace of joy he felt was best of all. As he reached the gate those assembled smiled at him, but when he tried to enter, they stopped him gently.
"Tis not your time, The LORD has ordained you another season on earth, there is work yet to be done."
Sui bowed his head in assent, then slowly everything faded...faded.....faded

For a split second after the arrows were released shock registered on young novitiate's face. Then, with a shriek of inhuman rage he hurled himself bodily on the Jovian captain, sending them smashing to the ground. Sui's scramasax dagger slashed and stabbed wildly at the officer's neck sending a spray of blood over the struggling combatants.
As the Jovian gave his death gurgle, sudden pain registered in Sui's back. Looking, he saw an arrow protruding from it. He felt tired.....so sleepy......funny he didn't feel much......
