Dorian took in the scene probably a bit better than he should have. He was no stranger to witnessing such perverse actions; his former guild had in it's employ several torturers, men uncapable of conscience or moral reasoning. He only hoped for his friend that Zigler wasn't past either yet.
While he was momentarily surprised by the lack of bloodloss on the victim's part, he quickly realized that some form of magicka was in play and soon lost interest. Glowing baubles rarely interested him.
"I was aware of your previous actions against the Jovians, and I know it was quite a useful tactic. Unfortunately, my time is spent hunting down the murderer or murderers who started this all in the first place. I may already have a lead, in fact."
Carneth, who had left a moment before, was making his way down the steps once more.
"Though I may not be able to help you now, I wish you the best of luck. And be sure to keep me informed of any information you think may help me in my search. This lead I have is not likely to be the last one, unfortunately."
Dorian bid the dwarves farewell, and left them to talk in the cellar. As he left the Inn, he quickly darted into a nearby alley and made his departure from the place as discreetly as possible.

Very well could have been. Don't remember exactly what he looked like, except that he was fully armored and Gustigiese. I hope it was him.

Dorian turned away in mild frustration. "There is no news."
"I have kept a constant vigil on the rooftops of the city, and have chased nothing but shadows across the alleyways. For someone so unprofessional in their kills, they are masterful in their discretion."
He let out a long sigh. "Oof is imprisoned, but for how long we do not know. The killings go on, and the rabble grow more tireless. Very, very soon we will have open war on our hands if we don't have a true face to this assailant, Mittelmarcher or no. A bloody witchhunt is at hand, and I only hope for our sake that we aren't caught in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Dorian paused, contemplating his next reply, though it would never be uttered. A dull thump is heard on the wind, and the ground shook beneath them. They turned to gaze in the direction of the city; a large plume of pitch smoke escaping into the sky. They looked back at each other for only a moment before they both broke into a sprint back towards their home.
And all Dorian could think to himself were his own words: "Very, very soon..."

Dorian turned away, thinking to himself.
"Sir Nichtmar would be a good idea. I'm not sure how much he already knows about this, but I can assume that the City Watch wouldn't mind a little help from Jovian War veterans. We've dealt with them before."
Dorian began making his purchases and tucking them away within his cloak.
"I know you're busy at Cedric's nearly every night, so I can keep watch at that time in your stead. I'm usually up at the hour anyway. See what Nichtmar knows and what the Crown is doing about it, and we'll work from there. Keep in touch and I'll do the same."
With that, the two exited the shop and went their separate ways, uneasy thoughts on both their minds.

Dorian had been perusing the various ingredients in the apothecary, being sure to take note of any materials he could end up using in an experimental poison he'd had in mind. With most shops, he could usually pocket a few of the wares on display without detection; unfortunately the apothecary herself knew the type of customer she usually drew in a little too well, and Dorian kept his hands withdrawn.
Carneth blustered in through the door, a concerned look on his face, and Dorian could already tell what was on his mind. He could only hold up his hand in defense against the onslaught of old information and conjecture.
"So wha' do we do?", the dwarf asked.
Dorian pondered for a moment.
"This isn't the work of any sort of professional assassin. It's too sloppy. The message left behind has it's obvious politics, but it's more likely the actions of a lunatic or fanatical murderer, rather than a politically-sanctioned movement."
He sighed quietly to himself. "And it would appear that the City Guard has no leads on the case. Not surprising, given our assumption of the suspect. Unfortunately, we need someone with more clout than either of us to be sure that this is receiving the attention the case requires." He looked inquisitively at the dwarf.

It is unfortunate, but Anvil does have a point: the position of King or Queen of MM does seem cursed. Of course, there really is no way of realistically ensuring their presence once they are crowned. Just a sad pattern keeps continuing. I hope it doesn't last. Personally, I miss RP. I miss the Jovians (which was the ongoing struggle when I joined the game). I never ended up completing the account of Shatar's death (though I know I'd really wanted to), but I enjoyed writing up to the point I had stopped. And I remember doing a little RP with Zigler (even though that ended rather abruptly as well). I feel like I really do/would enjoy RP. At this point however, there just isn't anything to interest me anymore. Our RP board is almost entirely dominated by other realms, one in particular, and the stories get drawn out further and further away from the main idea or supposed plot. Lately, it seems that the only thing that's been going on is the introduction of newer, minor PCs that nobody (at least from our realm) even knows. I, for one, find it quite hard to RP with someone I don't know or have not met in person. And honestly, for the current "conflict" going on, there really should have been some sort of resolution by now. It's stagnant and boring to me. I don't read the RP boards anymore because of that; I had no idea that Telemachus had been killed (nor Thrawn or Dradd until recently). Rittir (spelling fail probably ) is still alive, from what I can tell, and honestly he is an interesting character; as is the gnoll Ghrull (more sp fail probably). I'd love to see more of them in action. I guess the problem that I can perceive is this: there are plenty of talkers. Voices. Probably too many. And not enough MOVERS AND SHAKERS. People that truly DRIVE the story, not add and add and add and add ad nauseium. I like the idea of Moruliima. I'd love to see more interaction with them (for the better or worse of Mittelmarch RP-wise ). And while I can only hazard educated guesses as to what Thannix's beginning truly means, I am intrigued to see what can come of it. Oh, and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about NPC kings and queens. NPCs are rather fragile (obviously), and if we want their role to be important, it seems easier to have a PC king/queen that not only makes a consistant appearance, but RPs prolifically. Really, those two things are crucial if we want to have strong RP ties to Mittelmarch leadership. I know I'm only stating the obvious really, and this post has gone on long enough. These things have just been on my mind. Since I've moved away, I still wish I would have more interaction with you guys and the realm. Mittelmarch still is, and always will be, MY realm. I've always been proud to call it home. I just figure RP would be one more way for me to keep up with you guys and still feel involved. But that's enough soapbox. Just my two cents. EDIT: In the meantime, I'll try to come up with suggestions for storylines. While my creative faculties have been steadily failing over the last two years, I'll see what I can dredge up.

As always, and forever will be, no.
As a general rule, if it isn't essentially a stick covered in foam that you grip with your hands, it will not be allowed. No "strikes" (punches, etc.), no claws, no nets or whips.
Sorry, but they are just too dangerous. EVEN if claws WERE suddenly allowed, there would hell raised as to whether or not they did "blue" or "green" damage. And that's an argument not worth even raising.

Will probably not be there. Planning on heading down to Bloomington to pick up/fill out/turn in job applications. If you have any recommended places I should hit up, I'm happy to hear them. Might make it out Saturday, but if I don't, Mittelmarch will be tearfully missed. ... Well maybe not tearfully... But damn close...

Meh. Do what you like. I'm pretty sure that if you told everyone to keep weapons the HELL away from your face, they'd probably do it. A nose guard would serve as a constant reminder though.

Hell, don't bother with a helmet. If anyone gets even remotely close, just call yourself dead. It's what I did when I took a flying/sliding knee to the ribs one practice. Kept coming out. Just never let anyone get close.

Sorry man. If it's any consolation, that same sword broke in half when I was fighting Rune later that day. So I guess it got what was coming to it.
