Out Of Character

1) What inspired you to create your character?

I created the character because I needed one for Dag. I created a Visigoth because Daemont and I wanted something original, and everybody and his mother uses fantasy, so we went with a historical basis. We chose Visigoths because of Age of Empires II.

2) What inspired the name?

To get a feel for Visigothic names, I looked up a list of Visigothic kings. Alaric was the first king of the Visigoths, but I didn't want to copy the name, so Daemont pulled out the second A and I became Alric. I needed a name for my father, and I like my middle name, so Harland was chosen.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?

My tribe and Leovigild's put an emphasis on Honor. When the tribes merged, that emphasis was kept sacred.

4) If you could give your character a special ability of some sort what would it be?

Excellent vision and hearing.

5) If your charcter had a theme song, what song would that be?

Big fur mantle, finely tooled leather armor for my head and torso, and leather with thick rings for my limbs.

Hairy, hungry, cuddly, good with fire.

I seek to rid The Land of evil.

I wouldn't fight an unarmed opponent unless he instigated combat.

I won't kill ogres if I can avoid it; I seek to incapacitate them first. This is a promise I have made to Dhugal as he was raised by ogres.

I am a flanker, and would command the flankers of an army.

Yes. My father sacked Rome, and when I came of age, I helped clear Iberia of Vandals, Suevi, and Alans.

1) What inspired you to create your character?
Sturm Brightblade was my favorite character in Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance series. When his son Steel (who also was a favorite character of mine) died i wanted the brightblade family name to continue on. So i thought of Storm Brightblade

really i thought of different names that were close to sturm because i really liked the name but i didnt want to be sturm. so i thought storm was close.

good, because he's seen the evil that the Knights of Takhisis have caused and he doesnt want to be apart of that.

the ability to cast an aura of fear that only affects minons so i can go straight for the commander and scatter the enemy forces

custom made plate armor that looked like the armor Sturm wore, noble like clothes (long sleeves shirts with exotic trims, loose fitting pants of dark colors), and a few tabards with paladine's symbol of his dragon form on it.

1) What inspired you to create your character?

Well they used to call me an ogre in school, so eh? But later if you read my story, i really enjoy Roman history, so I kind of wrote me an out if I ever want to become human.

I use to use Nightmare for games, I misspelled it once Nigtmare, and I was like OOH! So I looked up several different words to create that sound, so Nicht German for Not and mar latin for death

good, but has been taken control my Telemachus once to do evil deeds.

healing factor

Something with drums, like from Battlestar Galactica

I hate armor, would rather go in a comfortable tunic, tabbard and pants, pretty simple looking, and a baggy travel robe.

A greyish ogre that's gentle looking, would actually have pointy ears, small for an ogre, but like a large man. Not the over-sized teeth like some, more small and fang like.

To one day find the viking responsible for his tribes death.

Honor and respect, Nichtmar lives by these standards, he fights when necessary.

I rather enjoy flanking and sneaking around, I love night fighting.

1) What inspired you to create your character?

I've always been a fantasy fan, Dwarves being my favorite race. A race of proud people, Craftsmen without peer, warriors without match. Showing honor to those to deserve it , and wrath to those who wrong them.

Plus they have booze. Whats not to like?

2) What inspired the name?

The name is one i've used for dwarf characters, and was even once going to use in my own fantasy story. But i cant write. So i kept the name, when i joined dagorhir.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?

I suppose, if you had to classify him, he'd be chaotic good. He is good, proud, honorable. He never forgets or forgives a grudge easily. He shows honor and respect to those who deserve it, and to those who do not, he will do whatever it takes to win, even if that means fighting a bit dirty.

4) If you could give your character a special ability of some sort what would it be?

Mastery over dwarven crafting runes, to make unnaturally powerful weapons or armour.

Atreyu - Becoming The Bull

I'm still working on that. I prefer when in battle to wear the colors of my clan. burgundy/red black and bronze. For regular garb i prefer earth tones, with maybe a deep blue or purple, or the colors of my clan.

Fiercely loyal to those he cares about, or those in his charge. Quick to anger, and quick to laugh. Part warrior, seeing the battlefield and its flow. Part bard, feeling the sway of music at his heart. Intolerant of those who've wronged him.

Learning the old ways of dwarven runesmithing, reforging the broken dwarven clans, avenging his fallen brethren.

If his goals were met, and he was in a time of piece, he may take up the hammer and take up a life of blacksmithing.

10) If you could, what position would you be in your army (archer, beserker, horserider, whatever)? I am an ironbreaker, a warrior of the line, my shield and axe move as one to protect my allies and attack my foes.

I also am a hammerer, a gaurd, my great weapons cleave through the mightiest of shields to crush the enemy beneath.

Friends, the forge, family, drink and food, and music.

12) What makes you angry?

Dark elves, young warriors who cant show respect, bad drink.

Axe and shield serve me best on the trail, perhaps some light leather armor, a small keg of mead, some basic cooking utensils, a blanket, waterskin, flint and striking steel. My axe will serve well enough to get firewood along the way, as well as my walking stick.

To battle, I carry Magnus my great axe, Doric my waraxe, my runesword and barrel mace, as well as my hatchet. I wear my full suit of armour if i can.

15) Do you wear any jewelry? I do enjoy shiny trinkets and baubles, A heavy ring or two, perhaps a pendent on a chain.

16) Are you afraid of anything?

I fear not man, nor beast, nor god not even death. I fear failure, failure to my men, failure to my clan, failure to my friends. I must strive always for victory, whether i must die to obtain it, I must never fail.

Out Of Character

1) What inspired you to create your character?

Elestirne has always been at the fringes of my mind for as long as I have been writing-in one form or another. It is not so much that she needed to be created as she needed to be released,to be given recognition and life.

2) What inspired the name?

'Elestirne'(there is an accent mark over the last 'E' but I can't get it)was the 'praise-name' of a beautiful early Numenoreon queen from Tolkien's Unfinished Tales and its meaning is given there as 'Starbrowed' I liked the sound of it and the way it looked but decided that elves would be much more apt to translate it the correct way-' Starbrow'- and,after creating some 'early' versions to explain how it reached its current spelling it just fit naturally to my character-though I had little of her background aside from name and appearence-decided on then. It is high-elven in origin.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?

Elestirne would be considered wholly good-she is pure and noble-hearted and holds such disdain of evil that she could not possibly be tempted to that side,much less corrupted by it. She would die before serving evil. Nor could she be considered nuetral. She is utterly and ultimately a force on the side of good-it is a part of who she is-and she is an asset as a friend to any that follow good

4) If you could give your character a special ability of some sort what would it be?

After considering the definition it would likely be her innate healing magic-though she has considerable foresight/ability to see things that will or might be and she has other use of magic at her call as well. It could also be her empathic, intuitive nature

Perhaps 'Twilight and Shadow' from the ROTK soundtrack of Lord of the Rings. Perhaps...

6) If price didn't matter, what would your dream armor (or garb) be?

Well..for dream garb...more or less what I am at work at sewing now. Dream armour...hmm. That would depend. In a large-scale battle/war...elegantly contructed mithril plate and chain;elven-made and having elven-designs and runes of protection and magic on its surface. any fighting less of war...leather greaves,bracers and war-skirt,tooled with elven-designs and runes as with the above. Perhaps also leather pauldrons and breatplate

She is wise,compassionate,gentle,sensitive,and kind-perhaps a little suspicious and stubborn at times but noble and good-hearted-and very perceptive and intelligent. Much prefers peace to war and is known to be very calm and patient-though she is very fierce and deadly when she has need to be or when she is angereed/roused. Has little tolerance or patience for traitors and those who try or pretend to be something they are not. A good friend and powerful ally to have-a truly dangerous and fell enemy if you should be so unlucky. Firmly believes in respect,honor,loyalty,honesty,trust and forgiveness

Elestirne's goal(s) in life are to be a good queen and leader for her people; to restore her realm to the glory and majesty it had of old,to do some good in the world,and to be remembered

9) Would your character ever consider not fighting?

Yes,she greatly prefers peace and will fight only for practice or at need-in defense of her life or others,or to aid the cause of good,if it is a noble enough cause. She will not fight for something trivial,dishonest,dishonorable or evil. Nor would she ever fight another person's battle for them unless they gravely needed her help or she feels it is a noble enough cause. She would never think of fighting those that cannot defend or protect themselves,or an unarmed or helpless opponent-unless they break honor and attempt to kill or do further harm to her or others after being defeated.

10) If you could, what position would you be in your army (archer, beserker, horserider, whatever)?

Being as she is Queen, Elestirne can be found at the head of her army;leading and commanding,and guiding-likely as not in the front or in the thick of the action. Were she other than she is though,or allowed to choose her own role/position in an army she could be found doing many things from flanking,healing,horsed archer,perhaps helping the mages,or an Elven Knight. Of all those,if she were a regular elf you would most likely find her healing the wounded,or as a Knight in the cavarly. More than likely,switching between the two.

1) What makes you happy?

I am happiest when left in peace,riding Olore,or taking a long walk in my gardens or the woods. The unspoilt beauty of nature makes me happy,seeing my people and friends happy gives me happiness,as does being with friends,and seeing things in peace and harmony-as they are meant to be-makes me happy.

2) What makes you angry?

Senseless war or destruction;senseless destruction of/violence towards land/nature and lives;disruption of harmony/peace;being helpless or unable to help someone/thing. Traitors/faithbreakers can make me angry-as do those that do not hold to or behave honorably or justly. Any mistreatment/degradation/cruelty to others and animals-even if deserved sometimes-and disregard/disrespect of or towards nature and its creatures.
I have never been seen or known to lose my temper or patience however-though both have certainly been tried many times. The most I have shown is extreme irritation. Go too far though,and you will see me angry-which is not an advisable thing. Even irritating one of elven-kind is considered by some going too far and very inadvisable. We may be famed for our patience/self-control but it is wise and prudent not to test either.

3) What equipment do you have ready when on a long voyage?

On a long journey I make sure to have ample stores of miruvir and lembas;my weapons and armour;extra grain for Olore;tools for mending tack,garb and armour;extra clothes and a map if needed. Perhaps also Olore's armour if I think it may be necesary and a bow and quiver of arrows.

I was extremely close to my parents,yes-until they were taken from me. After their deaths I have no other close relatives-my mother's family I know very little of and all my father's family were killed years ago by our ancient enemy. All I have left to be called 'family are some distant 'cousins' on my father's side-whose ancestor was the younger brother of the one that founded the line of my family. There may also be others-descended from the younger sibling of those two-but I have not been able to trace the lineage to a living descendant yet. It is my hope that someday I do find someone of the line of the youngest sibling, and more of the line of the second sibling-and perhaps members of my mother's family as well. Though they may not be directly related to me in blood(excluding any of my mother's family that I may find)they are still family,by however distant a connection and family is precious,especially to one who has lost it.

I am not often seen in a tavern,at least,not often seen in one within the borders of my own realm. It causes far too much of a stir you see and it is impossible for me to remain unnoticed. When in a tavern outside of my realm, I act politely-not a part of the limelight if I can help it but perhaps occasionally contributing to a conversation or two. If not,more than likely merely listening and observing unless spoken to or I have something to contribute.

Much as I do in a tavern. If I know no one,then likely sitting quietly more or less unnoticed in some out-of-the-way spot; listening but not contributing unless spoketo. If I am among friends,more than likely I am still quiet and observant; more apt to listen still than to speak,quite content to let others have the attention. But I am also more like to engage in conversation and to be a part of things and share a tale or two

Yes,I can play the harp and my mother taught me how to sing-both in her wood-elven tongue and in the common high-elven tongue. I can also sing in archaic high-elven. 1) What inspired you to create your character?

I've been working on my charcters storyline for years. It started as Ari Darren, when I first joined fighting Dag, which evolved into Malik when I joined the unit "The Immortals", a Persian historical unit. That historical style inspired me, and when the unit folded I re-invented myself (main reason: that everyone called me my first name anyway...) and used a combination of my two former personas to create my final which was flexible.

2) What inspired the name?

My own. "Aris" is a pretty cool name to have.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?

Started off as pure good, and went to dark good. I started playing him as something I didn't expect to last long. A naive youth, who began to see the horrors of the world and it hardened him. He's lead men to their deaths with no remorse, and has died several times in the name of good (back in Maethodoron, we took the "resurrection" rule as a truth in serious games for story purposes.)

4) If you could give your character a special ability of some sort what would it be?

My charcter takes the stance that a general is only as good as the troops he commands. Thus, any power he had would effect large groups of individuals. I guess if you were to put it in Dag terms: once per battle I would should out a verse (personal favorite battle chant is "For the Emperor!") and when I did so all ally's next 3 attacks count as red, green as double green, and anyone unarmored counted as armored for the next attack that struck them. could only be used once.

Prideful, honorable, kind, and friendly. But is vengeful, calculated, and ruthless, preferring his those that have wronged him to suffer before death. This had earned him the hushed nickname "Inquisitor".

My charcter is right now without purpose, questioning himself. He was a great leader who's "kingdom" was torn from underneath him, and when attempting to rebuild, was pulled away again. He has traveled to Mittelmarch on a path defined by his god.

My character was raised in the art of war and it is all he truly knows. though he will gladly rest from the fields of war, it will never be truly long. War is in his blood, it calls to him like a lover, and he he is happy to answer the call to arms.

General. I enjoyed leading the Templar knights, and though it wasn't your "standard" dag unit (being very militaristic, and involving hard outside practice) we had a great success rate in battle and we all had a lot of fun at practices. (being the only "Good guy" unit, we saw a lot of fighting).

That said, I really enjoy team work over solo fighting, and I enjoy taking a second wave support role, the shorter polearm is a very... situational weapon. And when the situation arises, nothing can best it. at Batten Hill II, Myself, another hammer fighter and two great swords came rushing in on the Roman lines, effectively killing ourselves but breaking their phalanx. I took great pride in that fight, and besting Dominus later on that day... good times... I like to help in the fight as much as I can, and I won't hesitate to throw myself in to break a line, or as a surprise maneuver to give others a better chance at victory.

What makes any man happy? Good drink, good food, good company... the love of a beautiful woman *stares off in remembrance*

Those how would bring dishonor to those around them should be cut down. The same is true for the demonic, perverse parodies of emotion... they must be destroyed without mercy or pity.

1) What inspired you to create your character?
For a long time I really wanted to go to Ireland, and enjoying the Hallelujah choir didn’t hurt either. So my original name for Dag was Yu, meaning Rain in Chinese. But in all honesty that character idea sucked. Then I remembered the book “Wee Free Men” by Terry Pratchett and I instantly knew that I wanted my character to be a farmer’s son from the Irish chalk flats along the coast. So I had a vague notion of were my character was from and then I looked at the history of ancient Ireland. In my brief study I came across the story of Bith a son of Noah that settled in Ireland after the flood. I thought that being a descendant of Bith might be interesting but removed it the time being until I can incorporate it better. I also thought that it would be interesting to have a farmer forced to fight (much like the average footmen) as a character.
2) What inspired the name?
I wanted to make my previous name (Yu) part of my new character so it be came his nick-name but his new name would also be funny for others to learn and remember, thus Carey “Yu” Lightfoot.

Carey does what he thinks is in his best interest, this often means not fighting with the heavily armed or skilled warriors that surrounds him. For anyone that doesn't know already, it was mostly pulled from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood guild. With some influence from Altair from Assassin's Creed and Thief: Deadly Shadows. I've always found stealth to be incredibly fascinating and efficient, especially when you're using it to silently eliminate high-profile targets...

2) What inspired the name?
'Dorian' was taken from the book, "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. 'Prior' is the last name of one of the main villains in a novel I'm working on

He will initially be rather evil in nature (though not [i]extremely evil). Eventually, he will round out to be a fairly neutral character, mostly because of his decision to aid Mittelmarch against the Jovian invasion.

Almost nothing. Maybe minor dark healing magic. Nothing more. I want my character to be known for his skill, not for his magical prowess. I've always had a slight degree of disdain for heavily magic-accented characters.

1) What inspired you to create your character?
I’ve always been drawn to fantasy, like many others. I particularly like R.A. Salvatore’s novels. As for being 1/4 Dwarf, I am myself of average height and solidly built, so I figured a part-Dwarf would be a great representation. Plus, Dwarves are awesome (see Baethor’s ooc info for reasons.)

2) What inspired the name?
Carneth was actually the name of the main character in my first idea for a novel. I proceeded to use it in WoW. When I created this character I figured it would work well, since I’m mostly human anyway.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?
Carneth starts out as the typical good-aligned character. He’s brought up to respect authority and live with honor. However, once he’s banished from his city for making what he considers the “right” choice, he begins to adopt more shades of grey.

Well, he’s part Dwarf, so he’s not very inclined to be a magician. However, he does have stronger bones than most people and a resistance to magic that is very prevalent among his people.

He is very noble, but also non-judgemental. He’s a good leader, who listens to every point of view. However, he does have a tendency to trust too much in his allies and show a bit too much mercy. He’s also loyal to a fault. He’s not an idiot by any means, but he could probably stand to be a little more cynical. Still, when he enters the flow of battle, his Dwarven heritage really kicks in. He’s the kind of person who never backs away from a fight (unless death is the sure outcome.)

As of coming to Mittelmarch, Carneth wants to prove to himself that he really is a good leader and his choices were the right ones. Other than that, he just wants to make some sort of difference.

He would say that he wishes he didn’t have to fight, but it’s in his blood to do battle. He’s been found to keep looking for enemies to fight.

1) What inspired you to create your character?

I always enjoyed the Japanese legend of Kappas, that’s what brought about the Race and personality.

2) What inspired the name?

Balfur is a name I used for World of Warcraft. I enjoyed the name and began using it for various other things, which soon carried over to this. Ignis is the Latin word for fire.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?

I would say he falls under a Neutral Good. After his life he always found a joke in things but that doesn’t mean e doesn’t have his evil qualities.

Despite the legends of Kappas, Balfur does not fear fire in fact he seems to have an affinity for it, probably due to his human mother. So I would allow him to conjure and manipulate fire.

From his human mother’s side he has been blessed with mostly human features this allows him to fit in more so than had his father’s traits been prominent. He has fiery red hair that covers the depressions on his head that would store water giving a kappa strength, although he does not use them due to his mother. His father left him with green and scaly skin. He also has webbed fingers and toes along with the depressions that are meant to store water. He wears a shield on his back, to imitate a kappa shell, as a tribute to his father. He also has his fathers personality to play jokes on others and “test” them.

Balfur wants to keep close to his new friends and have people get past racial problems, this however is not apparent to his crude jokes and playful attitude.

1) What inspired you to create your character?
I always liked being human so I made my guy human. The times obviously changed my direction for him.

2) What inspired the name?
I had the biggest trouble coming up with a original name that I could enjoy without saying it came from a TV show or movie. One day as I was attacking some guys from amtguard at our practice, I started giggling as they weren't ready and were afraid. They kept yelling "He's giggling! He's giggling!" Then it dawned on them what to yell. "He's Giggles! He's Giggles!" When I thought about it I had no better name and that was original! So I say my guy calls himself Giles by saying the two gs are silent.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?
He's evil. His path was split before him but I ultimately decided to make him evil as I would have more fun with this. When Nichtmar called me 'the most kill-able bad guy in all of Mittelmarch' that made me decided to be evil and to be kill-able without killing my character off. Since I read Order of the Stick I realized how I could do this. A little story telling and boom I'm a unstable Lich!

1) What inspired you to create your character?

I've always been into both Scottish history and Knights, so a Scottish knight seemed like a good fit. I've also always been into Celtic artwork and mythology, so I decided to make MacDimm's mom be a pagan of old tradition.

Not really sure, just kinda came to me. Mac is a traditional surname prefix meaning "son of", and is commonly included in clan names.

Good, but with an edge sometimes leaning toward chaotic neutrality. MacDimm has seen a lot of pain and a lot of hurt in his life, and thusly has some issues with disenchantment and temper.

Aloys Amirz-Slaiat-Ta Skoir-Yûl, Half-Orc Half-Elf

1) What inspired you to create your character?

I decided to go with my impressions of fantasy races to decide which race would fit my fighting style best. I'm six years experienced in olympic-style fencing, so I went with elven for the more agile and graceful aspect, and I tend to be rather aggressive, so I went with orcish for the more brutal aspect. This led me to a half-elf, half-orc.

2) What inspired the name?

I wanted medieval european for the first name, so I looked up occitan names and picked one I liked. For the other names I went with the sterotypically "savage" idea of naming people with phrases and titles, the middle name means "He Who Lives" in the black speech, and "Skoir-Yût" means "Wingless." Just seemed like interesting phrases, and I'll have to work cutting the wings off of a flying monster into his backstory.

3) Is your character particularly good or evil and why?

I'm leaning more toward neutral, but I'm planning on going down the path of the dark. I like berserker and assassin more than scout and crusader.

Some sort of magic. I'd want him to have some orcish nature-based magic. Either that or shapeshifting.
