Everyone who was hoping to attend Crossroads, hear me well! The time is coming for all of us to drop our stick-jockiness, and embrace a weekend adventure filled with fresh character interactions, intense role-played emotions, and of course... still lots of hard fighting.
Most of all, we want people's new characters to START NEW CONNECTIONS with other characters, for better or worse. Maybe someone who's a good friend of yours in Dag is actually playing a character you end up hating during the role-play of Crossroads. And visa versa of course.
Some of the more intricate details will be left a mystery until you actually step into your new characters, but I'm going to give you all a summary of what's happening in the Crossroads IV storyline, as well as explain the basic teams. This way, you can all have a better idea how to prepare your new characters for this event.
Crossroads IV:
There is a Portal that exists in a small clearing, and its been opening erratically for the last few months. Everyone who has come through the Portal has their own story of how they arrived in this strange new world, which seemingly no one knows the true name of. Have all these people been sent through the Portal to a new, deserted world?
For several days, the Portal has not opened, and the Dark Pool of Energy underneath it has been slowly building. To study the strange Dark Pool, many of the people who wish to protect and observe it have raised a makeshift town, which they call Portalis.
Some of the original people to pass through the Portal were a large group of Guards from the Eredhel Alliance, and it is there duty to ensure that Portalis is a place of prosperity and research, and thus, no weapons are allowed.
However, there are many other people who believe that this new, unknown world should be more deeply explored, and these groups have started to explore what is only known as The Trails.
In The Trails, these people are running freely, claiming territory from one another, and are slowly forming factions. In fact, they have formed three.
The personalities of each group could be generalized into this:
- One group is a bit more civilized, or at least characters from urban kingdoms and cities of other worlds.
- Another is a group of ruthless, rugged cultures, who came from harsh climates and lifestyles. They have a much more simple, "barbaric" approach.
- The last is a wide-array of characters who are actually specifically from The Continent and the Land Between the Lands. They want to work together to get back home.
Yes, these three groups have attracted certain personalities, but in no way does it decide whether or not each character is 'good' or 'evil'. The moral decisions of each character will be decided through improvosation, and is completely up to each individual character, no matter what group they're in.
As these three groups fight each other for territory and valuables, there seems to be something else brooding deep in The Trails. The people of Portalis are welcoming to all three groups, and though their interaction, they're starting to spread the word, or maybe just the rumor...
the Portal is opening soon.

I apologize if that's a bit vague, but more details will be released about gameplay and other specifics soon enough. If you feel like you have something really specific you NEED to bring to this event, e-mail me personally mithris@dagorhir.com and I'll pass it on to the other storyline crafters.
I hope that the three teams makes sense to you guys. Basically, you can bring whatever you want to the table, but we just pre-determined where each TYPE of personality would fight with. The more specific parts of your new character's personality will be decided by you as the story unfolds.
Other than that, we do need help with some mundane things... please get a post down if you can FOR SURE help out!
Things we're looking for:
Roaming Heralds (at least 3 at a time, one of which that can drum for Saturday)
A few more Eredhel Alliance Guards (Hithdor soldiers or Elves of Eredhel)
People to help with troll. We'll need two at a time for checking weapons of late-comers.
We need any sort of tents or small canopies to act as the 'buildings' in Portalis.
Also, if you have any Dag-legal weapons or other bizarre relics that you would like to donate, we want to have a vast amount of items that can switch hands throughout the Crossroads experience.
I hope you guys are as excited about this as
we are. Get some creative ideas going!
