There is a festival coming up at the end of September, called Frankton Heritage days.
Big field in the back field, a weekend long thing....For Practicing, Fighting, Garb Making, Getting others recruited into it, Even a major battle to change our history....just depends on how you put it. I will Liason between us and the Heritage Day Council, I would like to have someone else oversee the fighting, but if necessary I will oversee, I am new at the overseeing of things, but wish to get a new chapter instated in Anderson.
Has food, rides and such...And you would be near Civil war reenacters as well as Native American and MountainMan Reenacters.
If you interested in this, let me know. If I get enough people interested I can get this to the man in charge of it, as there is a meeting coming up.
A bonus for us, we get free firewood, hay to use, and the such. All you have to do is show interest.
Since its a weekend long thing, I do recommend being prepared and also bring like $10 and enough food for the weekend, we can pitch in with the reenacters as they are having a pitch in later Sunday.
Any more information I shall give, will be soon.
Thank you, Althuzad

That's not too bad. It'd be good for publicity, sure. What days?

That's the weekend of my 21st birthday, and we may or may not be staying at the Riverboat overnight. So I don't think I can make that.

I could possibly make this. But I need more details about what to do when. When I click on your map link it just takes me to the google map homepage. What is the actual address? Sounds like fun, though. ^^ (I have no clue about camping out, though, so if it involves that I would need some advice on what to do, besides bring a tent and sleeping bag ). ps I have erratic chances to get online, now, so I don't know when I'll get to be on next. Please feel free to call me on my cell if that's easier. It is 317-517-9077.

Okies lets see where to begin....
As far as gear to bring, my list I usually bring is as follows:
1. Tent 2. Pillows and blankets... 3. Regular clothing if you wish to roam the fairgrounds 4. Your Dag Clothing 5. Dag Weapons 6. Definataly Feast Garb if you have it...as there will be a big fire ceremony on Saturday Night. 7. $10 weekend camp fee 8. If you plan to buy treats and food at the fair might want a little extra. 9. All the nice little commodities, such as a flashlight, anything entertainment (psp, ds, headphones, cd player, mp3, anything to keep you occupied when fighting is at a cease) 10. Also if you plan to mud wrestle in the competition I recommend a spare change of clothes. 11. And maybe things in a cooler, we have ice at our disposal. So bring a cooler maybe with like sandwich meat, bread, water, and the such.
Other than that, I leave it up to your discretion...

So I found these times: Friday 4:00 pm 10:00 pm Saturday 10:00 am –10:00 pm Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm Are we allowed to camp out there, then and these are just the times the actual thing is going on? Also, what time is peoples meeting up there and where exactly inside it are we going to be? Yay, ice is good. I have recently acquired a large cooler so now I can actually use it! Unfortunately I have not created any feast garb yet. All I have is noob fighting gear, still. *sigh. Thx, this helps. btw: www.heritagedays.org/Wait, mud wrestling 0.o'........

As for us, we get in free, we are the entertainment as I put it... Mud Wrestling, yes, this is done on Saturday afternoon. Ummm ice, yes, is at our disposal...lol.... As far as where we meet, the gates are open to all of you on Friday, Im going to set up round noon that day, and I am staying all weekend long there, Camping out is fine, they have portapotties there, and there is a stream as well as a water source nearby. I hope this clears things up. We will be in the back field when we set up, close to the other reenacters. Civil War, Native American, And Mountainmen, Just lettting you know.

Heritage Days is mainly for practice, its also advertising a new chapter in the indiana area.
I would like to see many others there, as this will be a fun weekend if people show up.
Lots are planned, and we have access to the entire back field. Its huge. Big battles, skirmish battles, whatever we fancy. We have the okay.
So gather your arms and LAY ON!

When you arrive, look in the back field for a ninja. Tis me!!!
I strongly urge all those who dont come to at least think about it for next year, as it may be a reoccuring event.

Alright, Here is the update.
This festival will be a reoccuring Event every year, as I know the owner of the land and how big it is.
This weekend was fun, there were many things I could tell. As you know I am a ninja, well during the day I was a samurai ish person who foamfought and the like to show people and demonstrate the sport. At night time on the first night I was there, I dressed in full ninja and carried my wooden bodekan. I ran and dodged people and sometimes did sneak attacks which was a simple tap on the back and a phrase like "You just died by a ninja". People loved this, it was fun and little kids labeled me as "The Ninja". What is really funny was the fact that there was a clown (A friend of mine) who made balloon swords, and whenever kids saw me, they were like "Get the ninja".
The weekend was fun, only a handful showed up, Me and Gryphon, as well as a few possible members. But overall, we ate, we fought, we practiced, introduced this sport, and even got many waivers. In doing this people want to see it grow for next year. And the field in the back is so BIG!!!!
We could do the Northern steppes again and still have a fair. Its that big.
Events that happened,
Capture the flag Free For all 2 vs. 2 1 vs. 1 Attacker and Defender And also random practicing with different weapons.
We managed to even have extra gear for those wishing to battle with us. We made some extra gear this past weekend for the Event and it was nice. I do implore that some of you try to set this as one to go to, its fun. A bonfire was held, it was nice and high. And you got a mix of other cultures to, like native americans who were next door, boy scouts who helped gather wood for us and build the best fire, with a little persuasion, and even some blacksmithing going on during the day, I got $3 scewers of wrought iron (They are nice workmanship too).
I am glad to have posted this festival, if you want to know more or even want to help practice, I have the farmer's number for practicing. Its big when no festival is going on, you might like it...
