Little bit confused, being new probably over thinking it, but what tape is used to cover the pipe insulation padding on a javelin's shaft?
Eryndor says use colored duct tape...is this just vinyl backed duck tape?
Or thought I read somewhere to use cloth tape...what is this? Grip tape or something I haven't encounted yet.
Thanks,

the cloth tape mentioned is athletic tape, you can get it from dicks in a pack of 6 rolls

Ok this doesn't deserve it's own thread so *bump* on this one.
I know a javilin needs a yellow cover to distinguish it, but would a yellow "cap" on a black cylinder be sufficient amount of yellow? Tops yellow but sides of head down to handle is black, then brown duct tape shaft with black pommel.
And if it's NOT good enough to pass national, would banding some rings of yellow duct tape on the black sides be enougn to correct it or would a whole new cover be called for?

...why would you bother capping a black wrap with it? it'd be so much easier to take yellow fabric and tape it to the shaft

A couple reasons:
A)Only yellow fabric available at the time = 8 a yard. Black at the time = 2 a yard. B): I orginally thought i cut enough yellow TO tape to the shaft...but I didn't, so it was an improvisation to make it a cap. C) Also didn't want to waste the yellow due to having already applied a unit emblem made of vinyl film.
