I'm not sure how many of us have an interest in Heraldry (Coat of Arms, not reffing the field), but I have noticed a few coats of arms for avatars and can only imagine that there are quite a few more out there. I'd be interested in finding a place/way, whether on the website or elsewhere, to keep track of all said coat of arms for identification purposes of the fighters. I'd also be willing to help anyone interested in designing their own.
I know that for me personally, having a coat of arms has been a huge help when meeting with people from nearby realms that have been on our boards. Anyone that sees me with my shield can assume that I'm MacDimm. It's a historically accurate and creative way to identify yourself through a personal or family emblem.
Anyone that's interested can send me a PM with a picture or description of their coat of arms, or with ideas for designing their own and we can go from there. I've studied quite a bit on the rules and styles and would be happy to share any knowledge that i have.

I can certainly do stencilwork, because that's how i always do my work. I was more meaning the design of the blazon, but I do love finished products as well. Do you have it drawn out on the computer, or do you mean a sketch? Is this to go on a shield or banner, or did you have something else in mind? PM me sometime soon and we'll hammer out the details.

Baethor, I finished up a rough copy of your crest. I'll show it to you the next time we meet up and we can figure out where to go from there.

Macdimm-
I've done a little research in heraldry, and it absolutely fascinates me.
To go with your idea, I think it would be awesome to gather not just crests and coats-of-arms, but any symbol we've ever used in Mittelmarch and the rest of The Land and put together a collection. From the symbols used by MM's first units to the crudely painted symbols used by the remaining orc tribes. From the symbol adopted when Mittelmarch, The Southern Reaches, and The Northern Steppes originally formed the LBTL Alliance to the symbols used by our newest additions.
As new Realms and units join and older units disband, we face the risk of losing sight of where we came from. Let's not forget the awesome gift we've all been given by a scrawny college student named Bryan Weise who concocted this crazy idea.
And let's not forget those who sacrificed much time and energy to make Dagorhir in Indiana a reality. Andin, who made that first three-hour trip alone to help the original Mittelmarchers learn to smith and fight. Oron, who has input countless hours advising many of the Land's leaders. Sir Razier (God rest his soul), who improved our weapons-check and heralding, and inspired Mittelmarch's first Squire, Oin.
And I'll never forget Dhugal, who made 3+ hour trips at least once a month during the early years.
I know that was a little off-topic, but I hope you see the importance of tracking our past. I applaud Daemont, Taos, and especially Nichtmar for keeping records and ensuring that we don't ever lose sight of where we were, and more importantly, where we're going.

Thanks Alric, I agree whole heartedly. Preserving the history of what has happened is important to me as well. I haven't really had much of a response for this though, so my resources are currently limited.
