I've been involved with Amtgard off and on for 8 years and was just wanting to try a new Larp out. I am familiar with Kain and Anavirin and would like to come out to an event sometime soon. What would you suggest? I'm a total noob when it comes to other larps so any help would be appreciated.

Well Mittelmarch's big event isn't until the 1st of May, and official practices haven't really started up this year yet. They will hopefully start soon. I would suggest that you just keep checking the boards and look for practices to attend. As far as cross-play, you might bring your Amtgard gear out and see if it's Dag legal, depending on what you have. I'd also look over the rules at www.dagorhir.com and see if you think your stuff qualifies. |

In amtgard, i'm known as Bowen (6th Level Healer) Formerly of Everfield in Richmond, IN...Currently Gryphon's Perch. Is your amtgard name Oof? I think Anavrin and Kain might remember me, i've been in and out of the game the past eight years.

Dekland! You better make it out more, i like fighting you.
Also welcome aboard craig. Dont worry about being a noob, the fighting is about 80% the same as amtgard.
Only real differences are we have no magic (unless its a special power for a RP game)
We can shield check/kick/bash, and grapple, but no joint locks. (no such thing as incidental contact)
we have projectile weapons that will come for your face, javelins/rocks/arrows.
and our weapons are heavier for the minimum weight reqs. (blue weapon = 12 oz, 2 hander = 24 oz)
But otherwise your muscle memory for shots will be pretty much the same.
