Here is a nice thread for period fabrics for garb online: www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=14034.0Also, fabric.com is a great place to buy any kind of fabric, and generally has a sale on period materials going on. Just have to search around the site for it. Weapon covers: It doesn't matter. If you are looking to keep your weapon as light as possible, you cant beat a cover made from women's tights. Generally, you will want a double layer on the blade, which will keep it nice and light and give your sword a little "bounce" on the hit. If weight doesn't matter to you, you wont be the durability of a duck or bottom weight cloth which can be found at JoAnne Fabrics. But you can use pretty much anything for a weapons cover as long as it isn't a neon color, or something with modern prints, like.. balloons or bunnies. Weapon Handles: Hockey, cloth, or tennis grip tape make a great addition to any weapon handle. The nylon/poly rope wrecks my hands as well. Keep being enthusiastic and asking questions!

Leather strips also work as weapon handles.

I like vinyl electrical tape on the handle. You can always try that.

Dicks Sporting Goods is a good place to get it. Comes in different colors there.
