This is kind of a help post, but more or less a way for ideas to snowball. I am thinking of a few different ideas for my friends who want to start playing to make them more flexible which is what they want. I had a few ideas.
For those that are light and fast but still want to be in the action, I was thinking a round sheild(possibly with a base made out of a dish sled to make it convex) that had a back strap and a frog on the bottom for their sword. That way to put their sword and shield away they put their sword in, and theird head through the strap and its on their back, and the action of putting it on their back would flip the shield placing the sword upright. Then this same person would have had a bow on their back which they took off with their oppostie hand while putting the shield on their back, and a small or medium quiver on their hip. These would be like light infantry style if you catch my drift.
For those who wish to be mainly archers they would have a smaller sheild strapped to their forearm that would simply remain there. They would have a larger quiver on their back or hip, and would have a single blue in their belt(i found one of the best ways of having a single blue for easy access is to put the pommel through the belt with blade down and tighten the belt as long as it isnt threaded through belt loops. The all i need to do to get my sword is grab the handle and twist out, then it slips easily out of my belt.)
For my bigger friend he wants a tower shield. So i was thinking the tower shield and a long blue/green or a short red/green so he can have some reach but inside his sheild maybe have 1-3 clips where he could store javelins for use as spears and well javelins.
One of my more muscular friends wants to be a spearman or red-wielder. So I thought he would have the same setup as the archer but with a smaller quiver. Then he would have his spear or glaive, which he could set aside to arch.
As you can see our main idea is that we want to be able to be ranged as well as close quarters. Any ideas or tips?
