well since im florentine i wanted sum type of shield that would go with it. i figured a buckler shield would be best that way i could fight florentine and still block shots. only problem is i need a little help in making one. like what type of back should i use and type of strap. i want to stap it to my fore arm.

I would make it out of pure foam and for starps you could use eitehr ropes or old belts.

there is my buckler, it works ok for florentine but its works better for arching. Personally, i think a back shield works best with florentine if you can spin fast enough

i like your shield Zalos. my shape is goin to be a little different prob since i am florentine and not arching. the only reason i dont want a back shield is that way i dont take my eyes off of u and i cant turn fast enough. what type of foam should i use for the shield?

i here too Back shield dosent cause mt to take my eyes off you although thats a goos asset that i have the ability to not look but still know where you are. bucklers are good too but rather awkward to keep in place and if a red weapon user his fighting you your a bit easyer of a target due to lowerd movement and a breakable shield. You'll get used to useing that arm with the shield to block, but do that one on one or in a wal aginst reds and youll just end up loosing an arm so fast that you''ll almost instantly die.
BUT! i digress, practice makes perfect and all styles are useable if trained well... Come over soon the 2 of you and we will plractice

BUT! i digress, practice makes perfect and all styles are useable if trained well... Come over soon the 2 of you and we will plractice wow, we need a friggn translator for that mess of a paragraph. I see what your saying kazzel, I do belive that people that florentine with a back shield live longer however there are major differences when it comes to the buckler and backshield. A buckler can be used as a shield but in most cases a florentiner uses his swords as shields. The main use for a buckler is to block the occasional arrow. Of course a florentiner is going to be dead in a "wal aginst reds " becuase as a florentiner your suppose to avoide such things. You face the side of the wall of reds, or are suppose to. A back shield agianst a wall of reds would prolly last equally as long tho I havent had the chance to test it. A back shield, from what I can see, main purpose is to block hits from attackers. Typically blue weapon wrap shots which can happen when you tackle a shield wielder. They also provide decent protection agianst arrows if you spot the archerer before they spot you. Spinning to your back takes a little longer then just throwing your arm in front of you. On the field its a little different then at practice, where at any moment there could be five or more archers gunning for you. Also, i would tend to think a big awkward backshield would give you more "lowerd movement " than a buckler on your forearm. My buckler is not a good example in seeing that my strap sux, and the buckler is a little bigger than is need for a florentiner, but i dont see how a buckler strapped to your arm is going to make you move slower, at least not your legs. That arm possibly, but legs no. Either way, it is purpose of the shield that really matters. When using a buckler/florent combo you should realize that your buckler is a buckler and not a shield(tho technically it is). Its not meant for shield walls and wont help you press a red. Thats what your legs are for. Im sure that a florentiner can be effective with a buckler however, I would still recommend a back shield for survivability. Tho haveing a buckler on your arm feels really good when staring at an archer.

For foam the best is a small piece of the the blue packing foam sold by Maxyor or the white packing foam. Both work equally well for a buckler in my experience since they don't see nearly as much abuse as a normal shield. Depending on how big you want to make it we have have some scraps in my garage that will be big enough.

Ft. Wayne is the closest place to get it if you don' t want to order the really expensive stuff from online. Unless I do have scraps that will work in my garage, then that is the closest place.

I doubt before Saturday as my work schedule is fairly busy right now and I dont' even know quite how big of a piece you want. I just know it has to be bigger than 12" on two axis.
