Hokay, its not the first weapon I have TRIED to make but it is my first successful one. I've fallowed the guide lines to make a sword and am now to the point of putting a cloth finish on it. I have the cloth, stitching and motivation but I lack the knowledge of how to go about making the cover. Any suggestions would be greatly appretiated.

Dress socks make excellent covers. All black or all grey socks are the best choices. They stretch to fit over the swords nicely and stay in place with a little athletic tape or duct tape.

I feel that its important to give the demansions of this new sword: LOB 5" x 2.25" x 26", 40" end 2 end. Also, I have green cloth picked out already for the sword and an idea of an acrylic design to put on the non striking sides. I'll keep dress socks in mind for the future but this first sword feels like it should be special.

I don't have anything larger than a badger on me but those sell pretty well. Can I talk you down to two badgers or One badger, two wolverines and a wombat?

Sword one completed last night! The athletic tape isn't sticking well though so I might keep working on it.

One suggestion on the list above though. Unless you're just talking about a short blue with a long handle, I 'd make it minimum red length, if you're making a long blue anyway you only add a couple of inches and then you can break shields. Unless your making it for single blue tournaments only that is, then carry on.

I belive the sword is 4 to 6 inches shorter than a minimum red BUT, I'm going to make a red soon. I think the best way to justify my first blue is "swing speed practice"

I wouldn't suggest one that long for swing speed practice, just one alot heavier. Swords of that length can put alot of strain on your elbow and lead to problems such as tenis elbow especially if you're going to use it to work every night on your swing speed. The best way to work on swing speed is to make a non legal sword of the length you'll be using. Use a lead pipe or something similar that is very heavy for the core, then practice with it every night on a punching bag or just a peice of PVC standing upright for a target.

Next question... Any tutorials on how to add stabbing tips to swords? AKA making a stabbing blue florentine seet? I'll try to find some but I doubt my finding abilities.

The third link...
I base my stabs off of it, and for my purposes it lasts longer than any others I've tried. What I do, is split the Open Cell Foam in half, and rather than adding it befor the last layer, I add half to the last 2, TWO, TOO, TO layers. It seems to spread the impact against the foam out, and allows the tips a longer life.
Either way, as of now, I have a red sword, and two seperate blues I use with it, and it needs replacing (for my purposes) every 3 months or so, rather than every month. A big issue with the stabs, IMIO is that no one watches their own tips, which after only one battle, not day, can be obscenely bent. It's no fun fixing a tip on the field
Also, whether stabbing or not, NEVER under any circumstances stand the weapon on the tip, it will cause failure. Leaning on it will screw it up even faster. People don't seem to understand that care must be taken with our weapons, just as the ancients did with theirs.
