Zaron - At Spring Awakening, you were describing how to make "speed bats" with Funnoodle and a single layer of blue. I'd love to know exactly how you make those.
Does anyone else have a club design?

I use the same design as zarons. I didnt show it, but you might want to add two blue caps to the top before your final wrap. If you want to put a stabby tip on it, too, I'd put that inbetween the first and second cap.

That's pretty much it, except for on community ones I'll forgo the pipe insulation and just make the fun noodle and blue go all the way to the handle so that it basically becomes a round sword.

How do you adhere the noodle to the pipe? Do you just DAP and then force the pipe into the noodle? Do you cut the noodle so you can open it, then set the pipe in like a hot dog in a bun? Do you cut the noodle in half, then set the noodle around the pipe when the DAP is dry?

you can look at my flourintine set of maces. they are made out of funnoodle. all i did was use spray glue on the inside of the noodle, gorilla glue on the pipe and then shoved the pipe through the hole of the funnoodle.

Dap works fine for the clubs, and I usually just force the PVC pipe into the fun noodle's center hole.

i used spray glue (super 90) to put my maces together. They rarely need repair and when they do i don't have to worry about the foam ripping where it was adhered

I use gorilla glue, wet the pipe and the inside of the noodle. Then I pour the gorilla glue down the hole of the noodle a little, put the noodle on, twist it around a bit so all the core gets some glue on it, even repeat maybe, just to make sure.

i have made a couple that way and they hit fine and are good, but the ones i really like are the ones that ive been making that are skinnier and therefore more aerodynamic
i spiral wrap the first layer of blue foam around a single fiberglass rod. its very hard to just straight wrap one around since the diameter is so small so i take an inch to an inch and half piece of foam and dap it to the the core spiraling it down. it makes a very tight wrap. i then do a cap followed by a normal wrap then cap and normal wrap. this makes the weapon just around 8 oz. i then counterweight it using ancient techniques

Must be 21 or over. HA get it!.
Yeah after my loaner swords are done, i'm turning them into clubs, because newbs flat like bejezzus. Yesterday we had 25 people and I think 75% were newbs it's hard to keep an eye on all of them.

F'noodle weapons don't like you either, Haldour, but you don't hear them complaining, do you? ;D
In all seriousness, though, funnoodle weapons tend to break down sooner and get failed more often, at least in my experience. They really just exist to mass produce a bunch of weapons in a short time span.
And better speed bats can be made without it.

Agreed. I really like Bishop's clubs, and I'll surely build one or two just to try them out. But I'm trying to mass produce safer Blues for the new fighters of Stormhaven. We're starting to build a good core of leadership, and I foresee much growth in the fall.

i like to make them out of single 3/8 fiberglass cores or graphite golf club shafts.
they can be made nearly as light out of pvc but they have a larger profile this way and the downside of clubs is the lack of at least on aerodynamic striking surface. skinnier cores counteract this making the profile more streamlined

That would be great balkoth, just make sure to pick up the stiff flex, as those are the strongest ones. Let me know if you can get over there. If not I'll make a run over there and pick us up another 10 or so, so we have some spares laying around.
