I'll keep you in mind Oof. Depending on the state of our cars, Carneth and I might need to snag a ride.

I am still embarrassed by my duct-tape job on my punch shield. It's really bad. Draw-string is the way to go.

I don't see how you can use your method of making it so that "a limb wouldn't fit". If you're thinking that you can do it by making the space between the prongs very little, it won't work. Some of us don't have arms that are.... err... as "beefy" as others. For example, I can fit either of my wrists through a metal wristband that only has 2cm clearance. Does that make me a tad strange? Probably... Point is, if your trident got ahold of one of my wrists, there's a chance you could break it. There is one other method that you could use to make it, however it involves more joints, which as MacDimm has said, is never a good idea. Even if you didn't use joints with this method (which involves gluing PVC pipes between the gaps in the prongs), it'll still break faster than you can say, "Well, that was a lot of wasted foam..."

Dorian felt his stomach turn over at the stench of the sewers, but was reminded of previous contracts that had required such unpleasantries. He looked quickly at Carneth, who was also repulsed by the prospect and uneasy by what he was told he'd be doing.
Dorian took hold of his shoulder confidently.
"This is for the good of the city, Carneth. They aren't innocent; they plot our murders as we speak. Zigler is right; the sooner this is over, the sooner peace will return to Mittelmarch. I swear by it."
With that, Dorian descended the stairs into the muck.
Dorian had never had a problem with lying through his teeth, but this time something didn't sit well with him. He contemplated this as the three made their way through the sewers towards the arena.

Dorian looked back to Zigler with a smirk.
"Uprising or not, I'm interested. I think I've had my fair share of the Jovians... The less of them there are, the better."
Dorian heard someone coming down the stairs.
"How are going to go about doing this?"

As Zigler recounted his interaction with the lich, Dorian relaxed. He appeared to be telling the truth, at least. It was a wonder why he kept it to himself though...
Dorian gazed around the room, perhaps to see if anyone else were about to appear out of thin air, then spoke.
"I came down here to think after Nichtmar collapsed. I had a bad feeling about something, and it was too noisy upstairs to think straight."
Dorian paused, wondering if he could trust Zigler with his observations. He decided it wouldn't do any harm.
"There's a good deal of trouble waiting for this city, Zigler," Dorian said cautiously. "First with this lich, and an undead taint making its way around. Then with the Chu Ku'tal holed up in Moruliima and the Jovian refugees here in the city. And then this business with... Telamon...". Dorian sat upon one of the crates uneasily.
"This... being... visited me one night. He spoke of a city for the evil races... that I should seek out Banith," Dorian drifted off in thought. In a minute he straightened himself.
"Something is about to happen, Zigler. It's all interconnected somehow, but I don't know why. Something must be done, or these walls will come down around our ears again."
Dorian realized he still had his weapon in hand and sheathed it nervously.

Dorian had felt the presence of a demon in the room, but did not act on it. He recognized the presence as Cathan, an ally, or at least so it seemed. Just as Dorian was about to speak, the demon seemed to have vanished. As yet another noise came from behind some crate, Dorian spun to face the intruder.
Dorian looked upon Zigler in initial surprise, but his eyes quickly narrowed and turned dark. He drew a long stiletto from inside his jacket and pointed to the blood on the floor.
"Greetings, barkeep... Care to share a tale as to how this got here?", he said menacingly.

Dorian paced the cellar floors, grim thoughts abound in his conscience. He'd realized earlier that he'd never ventured down here before; he quite enjoyed coolness, the silence and the fainter smell of ale. These pleasantries were soon forgotten.
His newest location and closest thing to call home, Mittelmarch, was surrounded by unseen enemies; Dorian had heard of the Chu Ku’tal sacking Jove and flying its own flag under the name of Moruliima, he believed the presence of undead was making its way into the city, and this business with Telamon’s visit to him in the night… something was very, very wrong.
Dorian stopped suddenly, eyeing a blackened stain on the floor. He stooped to examine it, and after a moment recoiled in disgust.
His suspicions were confirmed then; the taint of undeath had gotten within the walls, here in the very cellar of Cedric’s Inn. Dorian grimaced, his teeth flashing white in the darkeness. Zigler was behind this somehow; first with Nichtmar being carted out after a ghoulish appearance, now with black lich blood in the basement… Zigler had to be found and dealt with. Maybe Dorian could stop this before it got out of control.
He glanced down at the Bands on his wrist again. They hadn’t been a bother since Shatar’s assassination; he had had no assignments since then. Still, they were a nuisance and ought to be rid of. He felt Carneth would be able to help him in this.
But they would have to wait. Zigler had to be found first, before whatever plan he was enacting would be complete. Dorian resumed pacing as he thought of when he would strike.

Dorian resumed his spot against the wall tiredly. Jherdar seemed to be taking the situation fairly lightly, and Carneth kept himself busy with the tables. Dorian guessed he must be the only one visibly distraught.
He had remembered the ogre from before; when Dorian was seeking leads on the Jovian command. Nichtmar was his name... yes. He had looked tall, proud and full of health when they'd first met. Now he was being carried out like a corpse...
Dorian realized that that wasn't what truly bothered him. There was something about how the ogre looked before he fell: the paled skin and deadness in his eyes, the aura about him...
The realization came with a shock, so much that Dorian's drink sloshed and spilled over the brim of his mug before his senses came back under control. He steadied himself, thinking of the implications of his discovery. None of them were good.
Dorian needed a place to think. The tavern was so full of noise and the heavy smell of beer, it felt like one could hardly remember their name. He motioned to Carneth, to let him know he was going downstairs. He looked over at Jed one more time. Bloodcarver was entertaining way too many people at once to be bothered by his absence. Dorian took hold of himself once more, and headed downstairs to meditate on uneasy thoughts.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had some white closed-cell foam they'd be willing to sell me (or give away if you're really that nice ). I'm really trying to stay away from dropping $70-$90 on a Edhellen strap. I'm looking for a piece or two that's 24"-28" width and 38"+ length. Of course I assume that not many of you have pieces that big just laying around with no intention of building anything, but it's worth a shot anyways. Alternatively, if you can give me someone to contact to buy from (I heard somewhere that this stuff comes from Rivendell; might just be hearing things...), that would work. If you can't tell, I don't really like buying things online for some reason... Also any tips on what else to buy/use to build a strap shield would be appreciated (as specific as you possibly can please). Thanks for any help.

Brom, if you need garb, go to Goodwill and cut up some plain-looking shirts. It's what I did for the longest time until I got this sweet hand-me-down tunic. It's easy and cheap; just cut off the hems for the waist and sleeves (or just cut off the sleeves like I did).
For pants, you can buy scrubs. Also relatively cheap.
Bam. Instant noob garb.

DAP, Gorilla Glue, carpet tape. All it depends on is what phase of construction you're in really. In my opinion at least. If you're building a single blue: I DAP the first layers of foam to the core. Once that first layer is put down I put the last layers on with carpet tape. With shields, I've found that Gorilla glue works quite well. Others may say otherwise. I think it's more of a personal preference and what you've used in construction in the past that determines what you tend to use. You find a better way to do it (i.e. my experience with carpet tape), and you start using that. That was probably way too wordy for such a simple topic...

Or... if you're cheap as all hell like I am, continue to buy PVC until you are financially comfortable with buying fiberglass. Because it ain't cheap. I'm probably going to keep using PVC until: A) All of my equipment breaks... all of it. Or B) Someone finally screams at me to buy fiberglass. Seriously, that may be all it takes. I'm a bit skittish at times.

As far as I know: Round shields: Good for flankers and people who can pull off spin moves effectively. Generally not good for straight-up frontlines or people who can't dodge leg attacks. Tower shields: Good for frontline fights and protects torso and legs. Generally heavier, but provides better protection. Not good for flankers or fighters based around speed. Kite shields: Roughly the mix inbetween rounds and towers (though they usually look more similar to towers). Can be used for frontlines or random skirmishes. If built properly (and is lightweight) could be used for flankers. I personally will be buying a tear-drop round shield from Edhellen here pretty soon. It'll provide the leg protection I need, but be fast enough to spin with. Of course, I need to learn how to spin effectively first. That's my two cents. If anything said here is wrong, correct and smite me.

Ahh. Gotcha. Awww... no creative fun for me. Do what you feels right. I know that sounds corny as hell, but its your character. If you'd get more enjoyment (and recognition) out of a different persona, then I'd say there's no question. Just don't be a vampire. We're a persecuted minority here in Mittelmarch.

You know, if worse comes to worse, I have it on good authority that 'Twatwaffle' is still open for use. It's definitely memorable. Alright, silliness aside, I'll try to dream up some names at work.

Throwing knives: yes. But they're only legal in Mittelmarch; don't expect to go to an event with 'em. And they DON'T have a core. Foam, foam, foam.
Hidden blade: Ehh... no. Not as far as I know.

My two cents: you can use PVC insulation tubes for the haft (can be found at any hardware store). Cheap, easy to put on. I second Kotaro though in referring you to Stubbie/Zero.
